It doesn't really matter when you send in your AOS. Many people send in their AOS after the expiration of their K-1 visa, and they have no issues.

My husband arrived on 3/18 and we got married on 4/29. His visa (90 days) expires on 6/16.

I can't say for CA, but we carried our license home with us the day we got married, took it to the county clerk to be 'certified/registered', and mailed a copy of it with our AOS papers the day after.

15 minutes after the wedding ceremony for us  no rush with the AOS filing but it is better to file early to get it over with and focus on your married life and adjusting in the US

hi there! we got the marriage license a day before the wedding ceremony. 2 weeks after the wedding,( as what was written in the instruction and using the envelope they provided) we sent a request for certified copy with a check for payment. They sent it back 5 days after.

My I-94 will expire this 31st of May. We're still about to send our AOS. NO WORRIES!!

We got married in CA, Ventura County and we had to go pick the certificate up from the Registrar. You have to request a copy to be mailed to you and pay extra for it (I think). They don't send it to you on their own.

Thanks,

We got married last May 7,2007 and we got marriage certificate certified copy on the same day after 15 minutes, and my husband filed my AOS package May 9, because my I-94 expired last May 15, 2007. I read some information here in visajourney,

heres the information that I was read...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Section 6.0....AFTER MARRIAGE - ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS

Frequently Asked Questions:

Question: How soon after we get married should we apply for Adjustment of Status?

Answer: Right away, or at least right after your honeymoon. You should make every effort to get the Adjustment application filed within 90 days of the fiance(e) entering the United States, which is when the K-1 status expires, as indicated on the I-94.

Filing for Adjustment of Status within the 90 days protects your legal status. Your legal status as a K1 expires after 90 days, married or not. The only way to protect your legal status is to apply for Adjustment of Status, and the only way to maintain continuous legal status is to file for AOS before the K1 visa expires. On the practical side, it is often difficult to arrange for the marriage, and get all the paperwork ready in time to file for AOS within 90 days. Many newsgroup couples have filed for AOS a few days or weeks after the 90 day limit with no problems. Thus far, newsgroup experience has shown this is not a major issue with local USCIS (INS) offices.

We got married in the old courthouse here in Santa Ana and they gave us a form to fill out and mail in but told us to wait about 10 days in order for them to get all the paperwork in. We ordered two copies and received them in about two weeks.
