Hey

Our case was  approved just yesterday (9/4/18) and I have been looking into the next steps but I was tripped up on whether or not I should complete the DS-260 or the DS-261? Also do I need to complete it for both myself and the beneficiary or just for the beneficiary? Thanks in advance!

If you are doing K1 visa you  need to complete DS-160 and it for the beneficiary.

See the K1 VJ Guide. You just finished step 4, so see step 5.

Your Input Is Appreciated On This VJ Guide Proposal:

Thanks, yes we are doing a K1 visa.  I completed the DS-160 for her. But I was hoping to go ahead and get started with the next steps so that I could schedule an interview asap.

When I go to the U.S. embassy DR site the site states:

After you have completed the steps on the Immigrant Visa Process on usvisas.state.gov, including paying the necessary fees and submitting the required immigrant visa application form (DS-260), Affidavit of Support, and supporting documents to the National Visa Center (NVC), they will review your file for completeness. Once your case becomes qualified for an interview, NVC will work with us to schedule an interview appointment for you.

When I click on Immigrant Visa Process it takes me here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/petition.html

Where step 1 says: To choose your agent, complete the Choice of Address and Agent (DS-261) form in the Consular Electronic Application Center.

So, I simply wait to hear from the embassy in Santo Domingo once they get our case from the NVC?

As it says that’s for immigrant visa, k1 is a non immigrant visa.

ds160 is the non immigrant version of ds260... so unless your embassy specifically says k1 will also ds260, you don’t it (which would be a pretty ridiculous request by the way)

so there is no going ahead.. as she won’t be applying for an immigrant visa.
