Dont you have the extension letter? I haven't come across uscis site that says you cannot apply. There is a calculator on their website that could tell you if you are qualify to apply.

I have a question, my green card expires in October 29 this year. My I 751 has been pending since September 2018 in Vermont. My window for applying for citizenship is open, should I apply even though on the uscis website says do not apply if you have a pending I 751?

I see a lot of you guys are applying for N400 with a pending I 751.

Thanks.

I have applied for N400 while my I751 is pending. And that is what a lot of people are doing, especially from service center for which processing times are longer. I was not aware about USCIS suggesting not to apply if I751 is pending.

On side note, the extension is usually for 18 months.

Edit: Just read paragraph 2. That's the experience everyone has talked about that IO will not approve N400 till I751 is approved. And a lot of applicants have had dual interview and post that I751 was approved first and then their N400.

You will likely have to make an infopass appointment. If citizenship is your goal, I would go ahead and apply for citizenship. It doesn’t say you can’t apply. You might not get I-751 approved in time for n400. Lot of people get combo interviews or get approval for n400 and just have to wait for I-751 approval.
