Good morning and welcome to our thread!!!

Im(naturalized last year) planning to apply the GC for my mom(my father deceased). I have a couple of questions. Congratulations!

1) my mom is a housewife and unemployed. Does it make any negative impact since consuler officers may think she’ll apply for unemployment benefits once becoming a permanent resident ? If she is not a permanent resident, she should not have been able to work in the first place and thus ineligible for unemployment. Unemployment if for people who were employed with an employer because in order for the government to pay, that employer also had to pay into the program.

2) my mom doesn’t have considerable money in her bank account(I as the son is the 100% sponser). Will it make any negative impact? You are her sponsor and no it will have no impact. However, you are telling the government you will cover her for at least 5 years. During that time, you cannot get food stamp, Medicaid or whatever other governmental assistance .

3) When i go through ir5 trackers and immigration forums, i can see that time takes for processing ir5 is roughly 11-14 months. Is it correct and does it depend on the country of residence of my mom ? The best way to determine that is to use the USCIS processing times average on their site. While once center timeframe may be 5 months another can be 7 months. It depends what center receive your application. Plus those times change all the time based on what's going on politically etc...

4) Online I saw multiple document checklists. For instance according to the uscis website only the i130, naturalisation certificate and petitioner’s birth certificate needs to be submitted while some friends in visajoirney had posted that they submitted copies of mom’s passport, mom’s birth certificate, marriage certificate of my mom and dad in addition to i130, pettitioner’s birth certificate and naturalization certicate. What is the document checklist that needs to be submitted along with i130 as of now? I suggest you look on the previous thread because I posted mine there. It's better to submit more things that not enough and get an RFE.

Dear Sir/Madam:

I, ________________, a citizen of the United States, would like to file a Form I-130 Petition for Alien Relative on behalf of my mother ___________

Please find enclosed the following required and supporting documents:

  • Form G -1145 for electronic notifications

  • Form G -1450 for I-130 filing fee

  • Form I-130 (signed by petitioner)

  • Copy of petitioner’s Naturalization certificate

  • Copy of petitioner’s birth certificate

  • Translated copy of petitioner’s birth certificate

  • Copy of beneficiary birth certificate

  • Copy of beneficiary’s passport

Copies of the documents submitted are exact photocopies of unaltered documents and I understand that I or my mother may be required to submit original documents to an immigration or consular officer at a later date.

If you have any questions or concerns on the above matter, please do not hesitate to contact me at the address below. Thank you.

  • 2 weeks later...

hi friends,

I am still waiting for my I-130 to be approved from Texas center.

i guess I will have to file for the Outside normal processing time tomorrow according to the processing time on uscis website.

Mine is past 8.5 months already

I feel so frustrating waiting for the approval. 8.5 months is not like 8 weeks of waiting.

Hope you guys have good news soon!

Hi everybody just joined the group.

I sent the i-130 petition for my mother on August 13, 2018.

It took exactly 9 months to get the approval.

I was checking the USCIS app and also web page to track the case and their system was never updated.

I found out that the case was approved because I got the letter in the mail.

Call to USCIS just to follow up the status. .

The regular tracking page and app was never updated.

I-130 sent : Aug 13, 2018

NOA1 : Aug 18, 2018    (TEXAS SERVICE CENTER) works slow.

NOA2:  May 15, 2019 APPROVED

Sent package to NVC: May 24, 2019

I had to crate an account online with USCIS to check the real status of my petition because the app and the regular tracking page was never updated.

once I registered I could see the real status of the application and it says (Case Was Sent To The Department of State) I think is the NVC.

I used to check the  USCIS app and web page every single day and nothing had changed. I found out the Approval because of the letter in the mail.

but the status of ( Case was received) never change online.

😃

hi

the account with homeland security will not show any update.

you can use the receipt number on your NOA1, mine is src****** and plug it in https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

no need for creating account.

hope it help.

Hi,

That's what I did after NOA2 approval letter but https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do was not showing any updated status. That's why I decided to create an account with USCIS then I put the SRC*** number and then I could see the real status of the application.

I mentioned before that I used to tracked the petition everyday and nothing was updated I found out that the case was approved because I got the NOA2 in the mail.

But the case in the USCIS tracking web page was never updated.

Hope this can help to those that don't see the update online call USCIS to get a real update.

Best,
