Hi friends,

I would be applying for K-1 visa at US embassy in Qatar. "Police Clearance Certificates (PCC)" from all the countries where I have lived for more than 6 months needs to be submitted during the K-1 visa interview at the consulate is one of the requirements.

I have few questions regarding the PCC:

  1. What category (Marriage or Immigration?) should you mention while apply for PCC as the PCC is required for the K-1 nonimmigrant visa?
  2. Is it mandatory to first obtain PCC from your home country's embassy before applying for PCC from "Qatar CID"?
  3. Once you obtain all the PCCs, is is mandatory to get it ATTESTED from the "Ministry of Foreign Affair - Qatar"?
  4. What is the VALIDITY of the PCC once you obtain it?
  5. How many months or weeks before your K-1 visa interview that one should apply and obtain the PCCs?

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

You are the USC?

as only the USC can apply

some PCC are only valid for 90 days

it does take time to get them if u are not in that country

I am the beneficiary and since I will be attending the K-1 visa interview, I guess I will have to submit my police clearance certificate.

Does the US Citizen petitioner also have to give the PCC during the foreign fiance's K-1 visa interview? Never read about such a thing. Correct if I am wrong.

I guess there is a confusion. My question is Police Clearance Certificate for the K-1 fiancé visa.

I do not get about the security check that the US citizen petitioner have to go through as u mentioned.

USC petitioner does not required a PCC. When you supply the I-129f his information is run through different Federal and Local for security checks. The beneficiary is the only one required to do complete PCC if they meet living in another country, from your home country, since the age of 16 for 6 months or more.

Once you land on the page, review the left column and select the first letter of the country you want to access. Then select your country and once you land on the page for the country your looking for scroll down a bit and find "Police, Court, Prison Records" tab and select it. First thing you want to know is if you are not physically in the country to request your PCC will they provide one. If they don't provide one because of the requirement that you have to be personally in the country then you will not need one from that country. Take a screen shot and print the page off to bring with your to the interview. Most CO's know which country's you can get a PCC from without to much trouble. In the event the CO does not know this for one of your country's you can offer the screen shot in your defense.

I have exactly the same doubts as yours !!

I lived in Qatar before so I need to get Qatar’s PCC  . My current status is NOA1 , it might way too early to get PCC but since It take time to get PCC because I’m outside of the country .

1. Validity - is any validity of PCC when you attend interview ?

2.category - did you choose immigration or marriage ?

3. Did you need your home country’s PCC for applying Qatar’ s PCC ?

4. Did you get PCC attested from MOFA Qatar ?

Please share your experience to obtain Qatar’s PCC , thanks 🙏

I lived in Qatar before, so I need to get Qatar’s PPCC. My current status is NOA1, it might way too early to get PCC but since It take time to get PCC because I’m outside of the country.

1. Validity - is any validity of PCC when you attend interview? receivingMany embassies require the PCC be valid within six months of receiving the document. If you have not returned to Qatar since receving your PCC then the PCC is still valid for the interview.

2.category - did you choose immigration or marriage? Immigration.

3. Did you need your home country’s PCC for applying Qatar’ s PCC?  You'll find those instructions in the P3 letter from your embassy for your interview. Most require a local PCC but refer to the exact instructions from the P3.

4. Did you get PCC attested from MOFA Qatar? Follow the directions from the link I provided to the OP. That will outline everything needed for a PCC from any country you have lived in.

Please share your experience to obtain Qatar’s PCC, thanks 🙏  You would be better served if you were to become part of the conversation in the sub-forum for your region/country. Go to the blue ribbon above, select "forums" then scroll about 3/4 of the page down and select the region that most represents where your country is located.

I hope my information has helped your cause. Good luck and stay engaged.

Hi,

I used to live in Qatar and had applied for my K1 from there. As far as I remember, the answer to ur questions are:

1) The validity for PCC from Qatar is six months so get ur PCC accordingly before ur interview. Getting PCC from the CID doesn't take time. U will get it in a week and is a simple process.

2) I chose Immigration

3) No. They did no ask me for PCC from my country.

4) No. I never got my PCC attested from MOFA. It was a requirement long time back but I heard they stopped that.

To get PCC from CID is not that hard. Just follow the instructions on the form. The fee when I applied was 10 QAR if u r applying in Qatar. Also, the best time to go is in the afternoon or early morning. There is less crowd. You just complete the form and submit it. They will tell you when to come to collect it but I followed up with them. When u go to collect ur PCC it may not be signed by the main officer and they will ask u to wait or come back. Check that beforehand so that I do not waste ur time.

If u have more questions feel free to ask me. :)

For immigration purposes,  a PC is generally valid for one year, however,  exceptions do apply.  Qatar is one of those exceptions
