Hi,

Please help me out,

My children are arriving into the US in a few days, they have their IV approved and the sticker is in their passports.

I have read here and in the official website that they should have a sealed envelope that is not to be open and presented at the port of entry.

However, the kids tell me they have not received any sealed envelope after the interview at the embassy in Buenos Aires.

they say they were told there is not such a thing because Buenos Aires does everything electronically..

Is this true? Can you please clarify? I am very nervous because they will be leaving on Monday and there is no time to go back to the embassy and ask in person.

Thanks so much folks.

Yes, they’ve started doing it this way, BA is presumably one of the consulates already implementing it.

USCIS is testing new procedure regarding to electronic visa packet, so they don't have any official info about this.

Did your children get the instruction letter about this?

If yes, they can bring that letter along with their passport to the POE in US.

If the CBP ask them about sealed packet, they can show that letter and explain.

If not, your children can call the embassy today to ask them about this, as well as notify the Embassy about their departure date.

So the embassy can notify the CBP at that POE about their journey.

Do not worry because some CBP do not know about new procedure, so they may be confused at first and ask a lot of question.

Your children need to explain and ask the CBP to check the system.

When they open their system, they can see all of your children's info, and they will begin process immigration procedure for your children.

Just an update to close this with what actually happened.

POE Dallas DFW

My kids arrived around 5 AM they were directed to the gray (visitors with other visas) lane and after they presented their passports they were asked for the "packet" they explained the Buenos Aires embassy does not issue a physical packet but rather they do electronic processing of all documents.

They were accompanied to another  room for processing.

After 10 minutes they were asked to confirm their address in the US and if there were any new medical issues thay may have.

5 minutes later they were returned their passports with their stamps and told the GCs would arrive in the mail within 6 to 8 weeks.

Happy end!

Thanks folks,

Congratulation for your children's arrival to the US.

Please ensure that you paid the green card fee $220 per child so USCIS can issue the green card for them.

After paying the green card fee, you will get the IOE receipt number and use it to check when the cards are issued here:

https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

You should register the service Informed Delivery of USCIS here: https://informeddelivery.usps.com/box/pages/intro/start.action

USPS will notify you via SMS or email when they are going to deliver your children's green card.

So you can wait and check the mail box, to avoid the package thief stole your children's card.

If your children do not get the Social Security Number cards within 2 weeks, you should take them to the SSA local office to register.

Thanks for posting this. My parents are waiting for their passports back and then will come to the US. Do the need to pay this after or before they enter the country.

Thanks  for your help

Ideally before, they can pay after, but they will not receive the green card until it’s paid.
