We have separate medical insurances currently, should I explain the reason to USCIS?

Many companies don’t want to burden themselves for employee’s spouse, the expense will be pretty high if couples have joint insurance. Is this a well-known common sense to everyone including USCIS officers?

In our case, we used to have joint medical insurance but my company increased the bill later, so we separate now.

Should I submit the old joint medical insurance or don’t show them? Should I write a letter to explain why we don’t have joint insurance now? Or don’t mention it at all?

Please suggest, I appreciate!

Yes, it is important that you explain in writing to the USCIS anything that is separated like bank account, health insurance, etc...

Like on my case, my name was not on the apartment lease initially and my spouse explain in writing the reason why and we got approved without RFE and interview.

If you have enough other evidence I would not include insurance at all. You are both employed at different places so it's very logical that you each have insurance from your own employer. We also don't have joint insurance and we didn't explain that.

^^^^ this exactly. They want some co-mingling of finances etc to prove you do not have sham marriage. They can not deny you for not having a joint health insurance. You can mention it if you feel more comfortable that way.

We have separate insurances. Because my husband has a state insurance, but as a green card holder I am not allowed to be on it. We didn't address it either way. We didn't submit insurance papers at all. However, we have plenty of other evidence (rent, bank account, credit cards, phone, electric/internet/gas/bills, evidence of trips together, IDs with the same address letters from friends, pictures etc).

If you have plenty of other proof, then you're fine.

We didn't include health insurance at all, because we both get it through the same company, but it was actually cheaper to do it seperately for the same service. We did however, add each other as beneficiaries to our life insurance plans, 401ks, and investments. So I'm hoping that was enough to off set not being on each others health insurance.

Worst comes to worse, you can use it as additional proof is needed.
