I-130 interview help!!!

Hello everybody!

I'm a frequent poster on this sub, as you guys always provide quality advice.

my wife and I have a marriage interview coming up this August with Immigration.

Here is some background info:

My loving wife fled from her country in hopes of better life. She entered the country illegally and has been living here for 13 years. She is a saint, has never committed a crime, and has a daughter that is a U.S citizen.

I am an American born male, Madly in love but also worried of what can go wrong at these interviews.

our age difference is 11 years. We submitted at I-30 petition for her.

What is something I can expect, what should I prepare for?

EDIT: Lawyer says we need $1000 in case anything goes wrong during the interview and wife is detained.

We live in Philadelphia, PA ( sanctuary city, if that helps )

lawyer is a thief, so don't pay a dime. does she have to go to the interview or can you just go? when you sent the i130, what proof of bona fide marriage did you send?

 

you have to take to the interview all evidence and proof of bona fide marriage, they will ask questions about your marriage

Senior Master Sergeant, US Air Force- Retired (after 20+ years)- Missile Systems Maintenance & Titan 2 ICBM Launch Crew Duty (200+ Alert tours)

Registered Nurse- Retired- I practiced in the areas of Labor & Delivery, Home Health, Adolescent Psych, & Adult Psych.

IT Professional- Retired- Web Site Design, Hardware Maintenance, Compound Pharmacy Software Trainer, On-site go live support, Database Manager, App Designer.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I'd generally say go with the attorney's advice, unless you have reason to believe it is not being delivered in good faith.

 

So they are doing an interview for just the I-130? That's a bit unusual...normally the interview is only when you concurrently file an I-130 + I-485 (AOS), or when interviewing for the visa abroad obviously.

The thing is she doesn't qualify for AOS since she entered without inspection (I'm assuming that was meant by "illegally"...if that's incorrect then she may be able to AOS).

Did the attorney mention an I-601A being needed?

 

Being a sanctuary city won't impact the process...that applies to local LEOs, not federal ICE agents.

10/24/18: Green card produced notice, 10/25/18: Formal approval, 10/31/18: Green card received

7/13/2017: Interview: APPROVED!!!

7/19/2017: Visa in hand
