Hey guys, I'm ready to send my application but am confused by what may seem to be a stupid question so please don't be harsh😂 . In martial status do I put single or divorced, I divorced in 2016 . I'm thinking divorced but I'm not sure, I keep reading conflicting info, anyone who was divorced prior to k1 who can tell me what they wrote would be awesome.

Thanks

I would put divorced. If you put single, and they do a public records search and find out you were married/divorced, then it might be a reason to deny the visa petition because why would you hide it? Stay on the safe side and put divorced. You will also need to include a copy of the Divorce Decree in your Petition. Also, if you haven't already told your fiancé about your divorce, you should do it because they will may ask him questions about it during the interview (from my research but my fiancé and I are currently waiting for our interview date to be assigned and I will update you on whether they ask him questions about it). Honesty and open dialogue is always the best way to go!

Thank you all for your responses, FYI I wasn't trying to be dishonest in any way about putting single when I am indeed divorced, my fiance is well aware of my divorce and no secrets there :) it was really about me being confused on which to choose since I saw alot of conflicting information online about it. Thanks again and now the wait begins, best of luck to everyone.

Hello,

Yes, I put divorced, I was confused by that question after doing some research and finding conflicting information. Did you send your K1 already? I saw your post a bit ago and noticed the pictures :) , congrats btw.

Hi,

Ok I understand. The process can be confusing! And thank you. Yes we filed the K1 back in December and have the K1 petition approved since June. We also have a  case number assigned from the NVC, we are just waiting for the consulate to schedule his interview.

GOOD luck, we waited a bit more to get more face time before applying, we already sent it, anxious to see what happens.
