I-485 RFE

Hey everyone Help again!! After thinking we would never receive an update since January we finally got evidence our case is moving forward only to find it to be request for more information. I followed the guide http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos but didn't see anything in here about taxes other than in the affidavit of support wanting W-2, Pay stubs, and a letter from my employer. I live in Washington state and have no separate papers to submit and I don't itemize deductions or have assets I can claim in my taxes. I simply file my W-2. Now they are requesting an income tax return for my wife. We filled jointly shortly after she got here but she never received a W-2 as she was never employed. We did apply for her social security and used that to file jointly. Exactly what information are they requesting? Our joint return? and her "supporting documents" (there are not any but a social) or all that were submitted with the tax return, including mine.I attached a pic of the letter. Really want to get this returned asap in case they ask for more  . Thanks in advance for your help!!

The guide notes to file an I-864 + any required documentation. The I-864 and I-864 instructions clearly state the need to provide at leas the most recent year's federal tax return.

You file a tax return, including a 1040, not W-2s. W-2s are evidence of your income, but are not tax returns.

 

Simplest solution is to send a tax transcript of your 2017 return (https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript). Otherwise, send the 1040 + W-2s/1099s/etc.

I agree with @geowrian.  You should submit the complete transcript or the complete joint return to include schedules, w2s, 1099s, You do not include Social Security Security card as supporting document.

The officer at my interview gave me this said link so that my husband, who was filing for me, could submit those details as evidence of him not being employed/being an active student and not having the cause to file a return.

The OP filed taxes (jointly even). They just need to provide proper documentation.

I think we figured it out as we are looking through our documents. We filled out I-485 including the I-864 before we received my w-2 for the 2017 year so we just submitted my 2016 with my most recent pay stubs. It makes sense they would request this as its being processed so late in the year. Thanks for your help guys!!
