Filing I485 in a different county

Hi guys,

 

I am currently living in Houston on student visa. I'm planning to get married in Houston. 

It seems the processing time for Houston is at least 12 months while it only takes about 8.5 months in San Antonio.

The two cities are not too far away from each others.

I'm wondering if it's ok to file I485 at San Antonio's office while we both live and work/study in Houston?

I can't find any information on this anywhere else.

All i485 applications go to the same address. You don't decide which office you can pick. Imagine what would happen if anyone could just pick the "fastest" office. ;)

Exactly. You file at the Chicago lockbox and the USCIS field office is based on your physical residence.

 

I would love to go through Hawaii (quick processing times last time I checked), and make a vacation out of it. But that’s not how it works.

1/2/18: EAD + AP approved (no website update), 1/5/18: EAD + AP mailed, 1/8/18: EAD + AP approval notice hardcopies received, 1/10/18: EAD + AP received

9/5/18: Interview scheduled notice, 10/17/18: Interview

10/24/18: Green card produced notice, 10/25/18: Formal approval, 10/31/18: Green card received
