Hello everyone,

This may be a very dumb question but I am extremely confused by it. I live in Western Massachusetts, my biometrics was done in Hartford, CT, which is like 1 hour away from me. However, my interview will be in Lawrence, MA, which is 2 hours away from where I am. I am fine with that as I don't mind driving, however I do not understand it. I tried changing my timeline here on VJ because obviously (or not so obviously???) my CIS office isn't Hartford, CT anymore but Lawrence, MA, which isn't showing on the list of CIS offices.

I would like to be as accurate as possible here so people get the right information when looking at my timeline (and so I don't feel dumb anymore), so my question is this:

Is my CIS office still Hartford, CT, where I did my biometrics? Or Boston, MA, since Lawrence, MA isn't an option?

Also, is a CIS office the same as a field office?

Thanks!!!

We also experienced one place for biometrics (a USCIS Application Support Center) and a different place for an interview or infopass appointment (a USCIS Field Office). In this case, both places were in Albuquerque although several miles apart. So maybe this is not all that uncommon to have different offices for different functions. As for your information here on VJ, I would just try to identify yourself to the nearest local office.

I just saw your timeline and your case went so fast! But I think usually the appointment letter would tell your the exact address. You just go to the address there would be fine I think .

Can you tell me how long after your biometric appointment, your status changed? I did my biometric appointment 10 days ago, and it hasn’t changed yet:)

Yes, I know the exact address, that really isn't the issue. I just wanted to know which is my *actual* CIS office, as I wanted to be as accurate as possible here, but I guess it doesn't really matter that much, hehe.

So, my biometrics was on 4/17 but the status didn't change until 5/29 and it went directly to "We are ready to schedule...", then a week later on 6/5 it changed to "Interview was scheduled". Some people seem to get a status change right after the biometrics, but I didn't so you shouldn't worry!

Message @Captain Ewok who runs the site and ask them if they can add Lawrence, MA as a field office to the timelines.

I feel like your actual office is the one you will have interview with which is the one really looking into your case. The biometric appointment is just to collect your fingerprints. Thanks for your sharing experience!
