NZ police certificate for NVC Processing

 Share

Quick question, I know NVC is going to need a police certificate for processing but I read that you can only get the certificate once you have a case number from the consulate you will be interviewing at. Is this correct, or can I get the police certificate once I have my case number from NVC?

Thanks in advance!

We did this once we had the NVC number, be aware though, the police certificate is sent straight to the consulate and expires after 3 months. You only need it for your interview.

I included an email trail with my NVC pack showing that I had requested the police check. A note explaining that the police check gets sent directly to the consulate should be sufficient.

I’m a kiwi who arrived in the US last week. It can be done :)

Awesome, thank you!

One other question, do we have to submit documents to NVC via email or post? I’m waiting on a case number but I want to have everything prepared so once I have it I can submit everything quickly.

I am assuming that you will interview at Sydney??

If do, you will use the CEAC upload system, not email or post but directly uploading scanned documents to the CEAC webpage

I should be interviewing in Auckland. I don’t believe we get to use the CEAC upload system, unfortunately.

I took a look at the NVC website and they have changed the information .. 😖.. of course.. they used to list the consulates that used CEAC but of course now they don’t. Hoping for your sake that it’s email.. I know your journey is second time round like we were... need our heads  read I think !! 😎

I checked it out too, they only include the first 3 numbers of your NVC case number(?) and what that means for how they receive information from you. Hopefully it’s relatively quick and painless! Haha I definitely agree with that!

@TheHills - We had to send via post, NZ consulate does not allow email or CEAC uploads. Just make sure you only send copies of everything. Don't send originals. Photocopies of the Affidavits of Support is sufficient.

You can ring the NVC and get your case number, the good thing is the NVC will email you the welcome letter and such. You can get the number earlier by calling though.

Good luck!

Ugh that’s frustrating! It takes so long for NZ Post these days. If I scanned everything to my husband in Maine would he be allowed to print and post or does it have to come from NZ?

I don't think they care where the package comes from as long as all the required info is included.

i'll see if I can find my cover letter from my pack and post it here.
