What’s next after form i-130

Who did you petition? Wife? Child (under/over 21?)? Sibling? Parent?

The process is similar in all the above cases, but timelines can be drastically different.

1) Wait for I-130 to be approved, or to get an RFE that you need to respond to. The varies heavily based on assigned service center, although 7-11 months is not uncommon right now.

2) The approved I-130 is sent to NVC. If the PD is current (some categories above have this always being current), then they will send a welcome letter with the next steps. More info in the wiki: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process. ETA: ~3-5 months

3) Once your case is complete (CC), they will schedule an interview with the beneficiary's embassy. From that point onward, the steps vary considerably. ETA: ~1-3 months

4) Visa is issued

Total: ~12-16 months in most cases, with some lucky/unlucky people being under or over this. YMMV.

Congratulations! First you have to wait for your Notice of Action saying they recrive your case. This is crucial.

Second, it depends if the beneficiary is inside or outside the US. It can either be Consular Processing or Adjustment of Status. Now, when you answer if the beneficiary is inside the US or abroad, I think we can advise you better.

Welcome to this journey, hope you find helpful people on this forum, and a quick processing. Don't fprget to fill out your timeline.
