hi everyone, just wanted to let you know that i traveled to the US on the 5th May via Newark airport.

Everything went extremely smoothly. At the airport, i went through the non us line, (my fiance was with me and because there were so many people in line, they allowed the non US visitors through the US line, so he was allowed to come through with me). The guy at customs was really nice. He looked at my passport and asked to see the sealed envelope. He then called an escort, and i was told to go with him while my fiance went through to collect the baggage.

I was escorted downstairs via a lift, and asked to be seated until my name was called. After about 10 minutes, i was called up to a desk, and was given my passport back and told to get married within 90 days, and that everything was in order.

From queuing at customs, collecting baggage, and rechecking through security took about an hour and half, so make sure you allow enough time for connecting flights.

All in all everything went smoothly, and we're getting married on the first of June.

I cannot thank visajourney enough..I would have no idea what to do without this site!

Leaving england was harder than i had anticipated, but i'm here now and getting settled and all is great.

If anyone else is going via newark and wants to asks questions about the customs entry, then feel free to ask.

Good luck to everyone else waiting to leave ol' blighty..

Congrats!!!

I was really interested in what you said about Newark as a POE, as we have had a bad experience there in the past when Bruce came in on the VWP (I accidentally took his ticket with me through into baggage reclaim...no proof of return to London! :o ) but if it is as painless as you say...

...but anyway CONGRATS!!!
