Hi, I would like to ask a lot of questions because apparently, I will have my medical exam for my visa this Tuesday (May 15, 2018) and I'm really scared because of the following reasons. I'm 20 and I need help.

1. Will smoking cigarettes affect my medical exam? I don't have lung sickness or whatever but they were scaring me that it'll deny me from having to grant it.

2. I've used drugs (marijuana/weeds). It was a few times use because of peer pressure. It's been a year and few months (like around March 2017 was the last time). And should I tell them the truth? If so, will I be denied even if they don't find trace of the weeds anymore or harm my candidacy for the visa?

The last thing I have to do is to have a mock medical exam. I'm really scared to be honest.

  1. No, smoking won't be an issue for immigration.
  2. You must always tell the truth to somebody in immigration if asked. Telling the truth may or may not result in a 1 year bar. Telling them a lie will result in a permanent bar, and you can have any benefits obtained later revoked.

Thank you. About the number 2, if I tell them honestly about that, will it harm my grant? Not that I'm gonna lie. But the thing that is concerning me is if I will fail it just because of that. My dad petitioned me with my half sister and I'm afraid I'll be the one who'll be left here in the PH.

It may cause delay, it may not. No one can give you specifics. Some have said it has led to a one year ban, some have said they were approved regardless. Like before though, always tell the truth. Think if you lied and they found out, way worse than just being honest to begin with.

To note also, while they may test the standard way, you can do hair root testing and trace stuff back years. So, yea.

Here's what I know.

1. Smoking won't affect your medical exam. A lot if people smoke and still pass their exams. Whether people smoke or not, they may or may not find something in your lungs during the chest xray.

2. About the drug use, it is important that you disclose that information. You have to be truthful at all times. As far as I know, you maybe required to undergo psych evaluation because of the drug use to determine you're okay mentally. Without this, your medical results won't be released. Hopefully you can get a schedule before your visa interview so that it won't cause you delay. Do not lie about anything.
