A LOT of dark-skinned people do this.  Cray cray if you ask me, but they do it.  It’s a multi-billion dollar industry, providening “whitening” lotions and such.

Gosh I really hate the "whitening" cream, soap, and even sun tan lotion. This is really big in the Philippines as well and my wife was using some of them for a while because she is dark, that was until I told her that to me it made her look less pretty when she used it. I was in Manila one time trying to buy sun tan lotion in a mall and I literally had to walk in to 10 different stores to find a sun tan lotion that was less than 50 SPF and did not have skin whitening cream mixed in with the sun tan lotion.

how many celebrities get work done, pretty much all of them. this is no different. the message is broadcast by way more than just folks who bleach their skin.
