Six months will be more than enough for us, just need 30 days at most.

My fiancee is on the ball.  She got our medical exam set up today.  As mentioned, the crucial document here is a form with your KEV case number on it.  For us we'll go with the re: email from asknvc@state.gov that states our Case Number, Beneficiary ID, and Invoice ID number.  They wanted a printed piece of paper with the address she'll be moving to in the USA with me, too.

I may call the NVC today to see if we can get movement on sending it over to Kyiv, CEAC status tracker still says "At NVC." https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker

No, I meant the validity of the medical exam results required. The official PDF says (emphasis mine):

Quote

The medical evaluation is complete when all required aspects of the medical examination have been completed, including a final report of culture results, and the applicant can be assigned a Tuberculosis Classification. Travel clearances are valid for 6 months from the time the evaluation is complete for applicants who have no Tuberculosis Classification and who do not have HIV infection.

If you don't have a ballpark estimate for your visa interview and US arrival, I wouldn't rush the medical. Two weeks ago when I scheduled mine they had plenty of slots available, to the point of "come tomorrow if you like."

@artml the medical exam is valid for 1 year. This is enough time to use it for interview, at POE and AOS. If you take longer than a year to get you AOS interview, you will need another medical done here in the States anyway.  We are currently doing AOS. If you take longer than a year just to do POE or AOS, then K-1 was not for you. CR-1 would have been a better choice then. Just my opinion on that last part. The purpose of k-1 was originally to get couple together as soon as possible, which is unfortunately no longer the fact.

USCIS Issues New Policy on Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record

Starting June 1, 2014, USCIS will limit the validity period for all Forms I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, to one year from the date of submission to USCIS. Applicants must also submit Form I-693 to USCIS within one year of the immigration medical examination. USCIS will also provide additional ways to submit Form I-693. As outlined in policy alert PA-2014-005 (PDF), this updated policy applies to any Form I-693 supporting a benefit application that USCIS adjudicates on or after June 1, 2014.

USCIS will hold an engagement on June 12, 2014 to address questions about the new policy and provide guidance on filing Form I-693. We have also updated the Form I-693 Web page on our website.

@Alabamak1 I see, thanks for the clarification. Six months validity applies to immigrant visas like CR or EB, and K visas have different rules.

Can somebody give me an average timeframe on K1 processing at the NVC?  I got my case number on the 5th and it's now the 19th.  I called yesterday and was politely told "we'll let you know."  CEAC site still says "At NVC."

Hi guys, it's "in transit" now with a batch of other December '17 filers, good deal.  I've got my finger on the trigger of scheduling a interview appointment.   I've also decided that I'm going to be there for the interview.

Question:  did you all schedule one-way flights to Ukraine for the interview, and did you have any problems with that?  Several years ago I traveled to Taiwan on an open-ended business trip and did this.  The airline staff didn't like this, and kind of hassled me about it, telling me a confirmed return ticket was required, but they eventually let me get on.

I plan to fly Ukraine International Airlines through JFK, and they, like most Ukrainians, don't seem to sweat the details, but just making sure this won't be  fumble at the goal line, as we say in America ^_^ because I'd hate to miss the appointment.

 good that you are going to be there.  My wife flew one way ticket Kiev to ATL with Turkish airlines. No problems with airline ticket.  I have flown Turkish airlines multiple times now and like it a lot. Istanbul airport is kinda disorganized, don't recommend the restrooms, but in general it's a nice airport.  Good Luck and bring some Mars candy bar, better than Milky Way. lol. We don't got'em here.

You must feel wonderful, and rightly so!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I feel a sense of relief and accomplishment; and as a project manager I managed to make up a few days time in lags, pretty good for government work 😅

My fiancee started crying as we left, and I felt I had to remark to security, "she's happy not sad!"  Definitely good advice for me to be there and hold things together before and after.

Now, question:  can I book her one-way flight home with me using her Ukranian passport, or do I need to wait and enter her K1 visa number when booking the flight to JFK on Ukranian Intl. Airlines?  I'm guessing they won't sweat it much in Kiev, just want to make sure we do things the kosher way for Customs in New York.
