Hey everyone,

My fiancee and I are currently waiting for our K1 visa to process but I had a question about the affidavit of support requirements. I've read that you should show a letter from your job detailing your position (full-time/part-time, etc.) and whether or not it is permanent position. Well I may be switching jobs before the interview takes place and I was wondering if that might be an issue in providing evidence of income to support my fiancee.

Thanks in advance for any help!

A letter from your employer is not a requirement but is only one of several ways to document.

YMMV

What they want evidence of is that you earn the required amount. It is fine to switch jobs. Give a copy of your last 2/3 years of W2s or tax returns and a letter from the most current employer showing your salary, start date of employment and if the job is permanent/temporary etc. Also include a copy of bank statement showing employer paying salary into your account. You can include pay stubs too if you have them.

If you have all your documents, the more evidence the better.

My fiance didn't have a copy of his tax return. I took to my interview his last 2 years worth of W2s (from two different companies - he changed job in early 2017) and a letter from his current employer and a copy of a recent bank statement showing employer paying him his salary. This was sufficient.
