Thanks so much.

I actually waited 8 weeks for my Oath Ceremony because it was a judicial ceremony, as I changed my last name finally to my married name. Not 100 % sure why I had to do the judicial one to be honest as I thought my marriage certificate would be enough.

Im sure it won’t take as long for you. Congratulations to you too x

Thank you. Did you by any chance receive text for Oath ceremony being scheduled on Saturday and letter was added to your account on Monday? Please let me know.

Thanks

Did you receive that email on Saturday or Monday? I am suspecting that  they run the scheduling program on Friday night/Saturday. For Fingerprinting, most of the appointment emails were being sent out on Saturday morning and letter was uploaded to the account by Monday/Tuesday.

Thank you so much for the information :)

Here I was expecting I will get some update on this Saturday. :)

No worries. Anything I can do to help. This was by far the easiest process for me, after taking four years to get my GC and in front of an Immigration judge three times. I honestly tried not to worry. It will happen soon for you. As I suspected it took longer for me because it was a judicial ceremony. I'm still not 100 % sure why, as I was only changing to my married name, which only requires an administrative ceremony. I think it may have been something to do with my witnesses not printing their name on my marriage cert, and only signing it.

Best of luck

Does anyone knows if we need a planned travel (purchased ticket) to apply at Detroit Passport office. The online scheduler is asking for travel dates and won't schedule appointment without it. I will appreciate any input/help on this.

Thank you

I seem to remember that when the lady talked to my wife's oath group, there was no need to have set travel plans.  If you have future plans that are not completely finalized, then I would just use an estimate.  In our case, we just walked in without an appointment and was out the door in about 30 minutes, but we did have set plans although no tickets purchased yet..

Hi Emily18,

If you go to Google and type in USCIS Processing Times, the first link will take you to a USCIS website with two drop-down menus.  You first select the type of form you submitted (N400).  Then, you select the local USCIS office (Detroit).  Then it will give you the approximate processing time, which is updated each month. It will give you a range, which currently says 8.5 to 13.5 months.  The first number is how long it takes for 50% of all cases and the second number is how long it takes for 90% of cases.  But, it's different for everyone.

Right now, there are people who filed back in April and May still waiting for interviews.  But, then there are a couple people who filed in June and already have interviews set for November.  One of those people filed on June 26, just 12 days before I filed (July 8th) but, I haven't heard anything yet. But, I am hopeful that I will hear something soon and have my fingers crossed for maybe having my Oath ceremony before Christmas.  Some immigration lawyers are saying it's taking about 4 months right now. It's hard to give a precise answer.  But, if you filed in late September, it's likely you won't have your interview till sometime in January or February I would guess but, you never know.

Anyone who had interviews in october in detroit, could you plz share ur experiences

Had mine on Oct 17. Interview was smooth and straightforward. My wife interviewed after me the same day but with different officer. Hers was easy as well. each lasted about 20min.

We were congratulated and received a paper from the interviewers that everything is good, we passed and we will receive a approval soon and instructions for oath to follow in the mail.

My wife already received her invitation it will be later this week. I did not receive mine unfortunately. I called USCIS and i was told that due to overcapacity that day, they could not have me together with her the same day and i should wait until they schedule me another day.
