It only took 2 days to get the notice for the Oath ceremony, was shocked a little because I thought that it would take at least 2 weeks and then I would get at least 30 days notice, but it is 4 weeks from today and I am done.
So happy to have it all over with.

Passed my interview yesterday! Brought all documents and all of that jazz, and the agent never asked for a single thing other than my green card and interview letter. Apparently I had sent in more than enough information when I sent the application. Only thing we had to change was my trips to outside of the U.S. (which I had a few since submitting the application in March '18), and adding my son to the records since he also didn't exist when the application was submitted.

Nonetheless, it was pretty straight forward, and more or less split into 3 phases:

1. Sat with a lady and went over some of my information (which is when we added the new trips and my son to my records)

2. Civics/reading/writing test, which took maybe 5 minutes tops

3. Sit down with an actual agent who went over most of the yes/no questions with me again and got me to sign a few things, but didn't take more than 20 minutes either.

All in all, I got there at 10:30AM for my 11:30AM interview, and was out of there by 1:30PM. So as you can imagine, the only thing that took a while was the wait in between phases.

Regardless, I can't believe I am finally done with all of this! It's been 10 years since I left Brazil, and since then I've been a J1, a F1, had my OPT, conditional residency, permanent residency, and now, finally, will become a citizen :)

Now onto waiting for the oath ceremony!

Hi Carlos! Congratulations on getting close to completion. I am also an ATL filers but July filer and we have our interview May 31st with pending I-751. I was going to ask you, did you have pending I-751 too? Also I got a letter for just N400 and not I-751, is my wife required to come with me and was the interview for I-751 and n400 done together? Did you get an appointment for oath ceremony yet?

Looking forward to your reply.

yay!!! so happy to hear this...Thank God!! and congratulations. The oath ceremony in Atlanta is rather lackluster and impersonal but the feeling of completion, to be finally done after all these years is well worth it.

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, even the interview felt impersonal, haha. I expected the whole thing to be done in a interview room of some sort, but after having the reading/writing test done while standing at a regular window, I lowered my expectations for whatever was to come next as a whole, haha.

oh wow, that's new!!! i did my interview in an interview room. I guess standing and taking the test is a good thing for future filers because it might indicate a faster/quicker interview process and less chance of scrutinizing every single detail in one's file.

You probably did yours online, huh? I think I shot myself on the foot by sending my information by mail (still not sure why I did that, I always do everything online), which caused me basically to fall around the same time as June fillers who did it online.

Anyhow... My I-751 was already completed; we got married early in 2014, so by August 2017 or so I had already gotten my 10-year green card. However, I do remember reading in this forum (March fillers) that someone had a similar situation as yours; I'd try to find that if I were you as it might be helpful (sorry, I know it's a lot of pages to read through). But, on that note, I didn't even have an interview for my I-751; apparently the evidence I submitted was enough for not needing an interview at that point. As for the N-400, I went alone and am not even sure my wife would have been allowed in the room with me (no one ever asked about her).

All in all, I think it really comes down to how confident they are of the documentation you sent in for a lot of this stuff.

I just checked the USCIS website and it says that my oath was scheduled on the 25th, but I haven't received the letter yet nor can I open the document online (usually takes a few days for the file to be available) to see when the actual ceremony will be.

In all fairness, it did indeed feel quicker that way. Atlanta has about 11 windows (and 2 more desks in this little weird room), for a total of 13 people. The problem is that they aren't there just to do testing; they are the same folks who do all the other cases that come through as well, so it just felt a little impersonal, really. Nonetheless, I got up, he said "let's begin our civics test" and I answered the 6 questions, then he said "can you read what's on the tablet for me?", and once I did read it, he said "can you write down the answer to that question on the tablet?" and after doing that we were done. So from beginning to end, the civic/reading/writing portion of my test took no longer than 5 minutes. The only issue was the 1:15 wait before that, haha.

On another note... How long did the oath ceremony take/last for you guys? Were you able to register to vote/apply for a passport on that same day? How long of a day was it overall?

Not trying to rush things, but the wife and I are trying to plan a celebratory lunch that day and we have to coordinate the hours so that the little one is picked up at a decent time from daycare :) And it doesn't help we live 1:30 away from the service center...

The Oath Ceremony itself took about 10-15 minutes; watching the America the beautiful video, National Anthem, message from Trump, then a message from the district director. Once she read the note she told us to stand up and read the oath of allegiance located in the packets for each person. Families were allowed to take pictures, we were told new citizens with kids under 18 are automatically US Citizens. Then we were instructed, and very firmly to walk to the front, row by row to collect our certificate. The lady in charge said walk and read, meaning as soon as you collect it, walk out of the door while reading it thoroughly to make sure there were no mistakes. If you find any mistakes you can correct it for free on the day but anything found after would take longer and cost you. So walk and read and leave (that's what she said, but we could come back in to take pictures when everyone had collected their certificate).

The entire process took about an hour. Most of it was spent waiting and collecting the form that came with the oath ceremony (You need to fill it beforehand). We also waited for everyone to arrive. After that, we walked into the ceremony room where we stood in line to submit our green card and EAD or any other immigration docs we had (like advance parole and whatnot).  I submitted my green card and an old EAD and was given a ticket with a number (that corresponded to the chair #). While we waited for the ceremony to start,  a representative from the league of women voters told us that we can register to vote immediately after we got our certificate. Registration was done on the 3rd floor (there were volunteers holding a sign to direct new citizens...everything went by so fast). you fill out a simple form with your name, last 4 of your SSN, dob, email, phone #, and county you reside. Then they take a copy of your certificate and hand it over to you, with other instructions of how you can track your registration. (ps: since I registered, 3/4/2019, I still haven't gotten my voters card and it says I'm not registered online).

In the packet, there is a passport application form and instructions on where you can walk in for an appointment...located downtown Atlanta. I didn't bother with that, instead, I booked an appointment with my local USPS. My passport application was sent 3/27 and I received my passport last week on the 25th and my naturalization certificate on the 27th. So the entire process took a month.

All in all, everything took an hour to an hour 40 minutes, because of waiting and me doing the most by taking pictures at every corner of that office knowing it would be my last time there lol. I was back to work by before 10:30 am and carried on my day as usual (oath letter sais show up by 7:30 am).

I hope this helps, lol.

It sure does, thank you very much! Of course USCIS gets their final laugh at me and scheduled mine on May 10th at 12:30PM. Anyone living in Atlanta knows what traffic looks like around lunch time, so I guess they wanted to get a final jab in while they could :)

At the appointment at USPS, I presume you had to mail in your certificate, then sounds like your passport was mailed back to you first, then the certificate separately?

lol...yup just make time to accommodate the traffic. And don't be like me, take the day off work ...enjoy the entire day.

Yes for the USPS appointment, you will have to submit the original certificate so be sure to make copies for your keepsake. Based on my experience and others on here, the passport comes first, then the Nat. Cert. I have yet it see it the other way around. So if you want to update your drivers' license and SSN beforehand you should take advantage of that.

Also, I'd advise you to go ahead and book an appointment on USPS now (like today) because they go by so fast (at least in my area, Gwinnett). The earliest appointment I could get was 3 weeks after I got naturalized and that was by luck because it wasn't originally opened (someone must have canceled their appointment). Prior to that, the earliest was over a month out. I tried to go for walk-ins at the local library but it was on a first come first serve basis (it opened by 10 am and people were there by 7 am..they stopped taking walk-ins after a certain amount of people).

Thank you very much! Since my ceremony was at 12:30 and it didn't get done until 2PM, I ended up heading home without dealing with anything (no passport, or SSN, or voting) because we had to go back to pick up the kiddo from daycare before 5 (and you know what traffic looks like on a Friday in Atlanta), so I couldn't risk staying long knowing that without traffic it already takes me an hour and a half to get home.

Nonetheless, if you don't mind all the questions... What all did you have to do for your SSN? I've already had a card/# for a few years now, but I wasn't sure if now I'd get a new number or if I even needed to do anything. As for the passport, I will call my local USPS today and get that handled, and I presume that the voting portion shouldn't be too hard, either.

Thank you for all your help on this, and congratulations on becoming a citizen as well :)

Congratulations again and thank you...always happy to help whenever I can!!

I actually just got my SSN and license updated this last Friday. For the SSN, I didn't need to book an appointment or fill out any form. I just walked in and signed in at the visitors' sign-in kiosk.  Once done, it printed a ticket #, thankfully I didn't have to wait too long. Once called in, I told the guy I just wanted to update my SSN because I am now a citizen. I showed him my passport and SSN (He asked for both items), and my license (he also asked for it, cos he needed something with my address in it). He made some updates on the computer, printed out a receipt and told me to confirm the name and address. Then mentioned that I'll be receiving a new SSN card in the mail in about 10 business days (same card number). And that was it.

Voter registration is easy, you can do it online or at the DMV. Here's the link to register online https://registertovote.sos.ga.gov/GAOLVR/welcometoga.do#no-back-button

Good luck calling and speaking to someone at USPS..they never respond in my experience. You can always book an appointment online if calling fails. Here's the link: https://tools.usps.com/go/pages/schedule-appointment/index.jsp

Thank you very much once again! So they didn't even ask for the proof of naturalization at the SSN office? That's pretty crazy haha.

Unless... You already had a US passport in hands?
