N400 online

I have just started to file my N400 online. I need to go back and add to it / review it.  I filled out the questions that I thought would create an issue and put explanations where required. At the end it gives you an idea of what evidence you need to upload.

 

I had to check the box for arrest/ citations, as in 2005 I received a parking ticket for parking against the flow of traffic outside my house.  ( who knew this was illegal) I can't even remember the exact date. It might have even been early 2006. I had to pay a fine which I did. Not DUI related and it was easily less than $100. Now it states it wants evidence of my arrest and evidence of the outcome. I don't even know if they keep records that far back, plus it states in the directions quite clearly that evidence for that offense is not required.  

 

Another box I had to check and explain was when I was put into removal proceedings. I explained everything stating the proceedings were terminated. I even had the IJ letter to state this,  ready to upload, but it didn't want any evidence. 

 

Any my thoughts on what I should do regarding the parking fine ?

They probably won’t actually care about traffic violations. You told them about it, and you can easily explain that since every other part of the immigration process specifically exempts traffic violations, you didn’t think you needed to keep it, should they ask you about it at the interview... which they almost certainly won’t.

You can upload it under the Additional Evidence section if you want USCIS to be aware of the documentation you have in regards to the prior removal proceedings.

I think I will just go ahead and upload it. They may not even need it, as they should have records of it, but it certainly won't hurt.

I will try to get any evidence that I can. I'm thinking the reason that they asked for evidence is because arrested/ cited etc are all in  the same question and it may not be able to distinguish between the two at this point. It actually asked me for evidence of my arrest and the outcome, despite my explanation that it was a parking ticket. I've never been arrested.

I got the error message a lot too. At first I was relogging back in. Then I realized all I needed to do was use the back arrow at the top of the screen and it would take me back to the page I was on. Fortunately everything is  saved periodically.

Refresh worked for me only once.  But not again.  Which browser are you using?

I've no idea, maybe I.E.?

I didn't refresh, I just used the back arrow.

When I got a speeding ticket - I got a copy of the adjudication from the clerk of court in my county.

If you paid the parking ticket with a check or a credit card - then you could try checking your account for any previous bank statements (for a more accurate search, you would need to know the date when that happened)

The other thing I can think of is a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) - that should report any citations related to your vehicle (could be wrong, but it was just an idea).

Thank you. The problem I might have is that it was so long ago , almost 12-13 years. I don't think I have statements that far back, despite hoarding paperwork. Thanks so much.

I would go with the driving record from the DMV...it would show no outstanding traffic fines.

I don't think a parking ticket is a citation, unless you were summoned to court over it.

I know that, by putting 3 separate envelopes into one bigger one, will to a certain extent guarantee, same date interview for my family of 3.  Will it work the same way, if I file all the 3 N-400s online on the same day?  or is there a way of requesting for same day interview separately?

There's really no guaranteed way to control what day your interviews will fall on----but they do try to hold them close together as possible (perhaps the same day but different time slots....or the same week, as reported by others here).   All depends on how the background checks go (something might come up for one of you, delaying the process slightly for one of the applicants) and how straightforward each application is/any RFEs sent later for one but not the others, etc.  You may or may not all have the same interviewing officer, as well.
