Question about citizenship based on marriage

Hey guys,

 

Im aware that a GC holder who is married to a citizen, can file for naturalization after 3yr of marriage and residence. My question is, since it is based off of marriage, is it some type of joint interview involving the citizen spouse, similar to AOS? Or is it more of presenting proof of still being married and more focused on the would be citizen themselves? Not counting the exam, of course. Thanks :)

**Adjusting from initial Q1/changed to B1 then overstay, termination of removal proceedings**

(STAND ALONE i-130/TERMINATION OF REMOVAL)

First met: Totally random by asking for directions, June 2014 while on vacation at Disney World (L)

Engaged: Aug. 21, 2014

Married: Dec. 1, 2014

ICE phone contact: sometime in early Dec. 2014- Co-operated, retained attorney who advised the same.

Filed stand alone i-130: January 2015 (VSC)

ICE home visit, schedule time to go to DHS office and NTA issued, date TBD, was not detained and released on own recognizance within an hour: January, 2015.

NOA1: Feb. 20, 2015.

Transfer to CSC to balance workloads: August 2015

1)First Master Calendar Hearing: Sept. 9, 2015-Continued based on pending i-130, new court date in 6mo.

Congressional Inquiry: Dec 8. 2015

***i-130 APPROVED WITHOUT INTERVIEW: Dec. 21, 2015** :dancing:

2)Second Master Hearing: March 9, 2016- Removal proceedings terminated w/o prejudice based on approved i-130!! Remanded to USCIS to begin AOS process :dance:

(AOS AFTER TERMINATION)

Filed AOS packet: March 16, 2016.

NOA1: March 21, 2016.

Biometrics: April 20, 2016.

RFE Initial evidence: April 21, 2016 for birth cert/translation and Q1/B1 i94s

RFE response received: May 10, 2016.

EAD approval: May 25, 2016- Card arrived at attorney's office! Could not pick up until May 30 because we were at Disney World again :):D

Notice of missing medical exam: July 2016 (Done on purpose to avoid expiration, we will bring it to the interview as stated in notice)

Inquiry about case status: Sept 2016- Case pending interview at local office.

Inquiry about case status again: Oct. 2016- Due to factors not related to your case, anticipate a delay in processing

HAPPY 2YR ANNIVERSARY TO US!!

Infopass #1 at local office: Dec. 19, 2016- Case pending background/security checks, advised when to renew EAD #2

Waiting on interview at local office...... :clock:

Sent EAD renewal: Feb 10, 2016

EAD#2 NOA1: March 3, 2016

INTERVIEW SCHEDULED!!: interview on March 27, 2017

Text notification, new card being produced: March 29, 2017!!!

Hubby just took his Oath last month. The Naturalization process is basically re-submitting evidence of your marriage and commingling of “life”. I went with him to the interview, but only he was called in for the testing/interview. Hope that helps

Yes, this is basically what I was wondering. We are a good bit away from this, but I was curious :)

Way simpler than AOS. We submitted very basic evidence, such as tax return and house P&S. The IO didn't ask for insurance docs, photos or bank accounts. 

My husband went with me for the interview (waited in the waiting area), but I was the only one being interviewed. I think it's very rarely that they ask to see your USC spouse, normally the USC spouse isn't even allowed in the interview room with you. (Only the naturalization applicant is allowed in, and an interpreter if needed)

I just applied online today for my N-400 - have a pending application for a replacement green card as well - I got the NOA for the green card replacement and my biometrics appointment for that is on March 8th at the Jacksonville Office.

 

What are the chances I can get a refund on the biometrics fee for the N-400 application?  Is that something I can bring up in my biometrics appointment or is it a case where they will not entertain those questions and I will need an InfoPass appointment?

02-23-2018: Date on Biometrics Appointment Letter (Biometrics Appointment at Jacksonville ASC on March 13, 10:00 a.m.)

03-08-2018: Biometrics complete

04-05-2018: Case status updated - Interview Scheduled on May 10, 2018, 10:15 a.m. :D

05-10-2018: Citizenship Interview - Passed English and Civics Tests, Recommended for Approval! :D 

06-19-2018: Received email and text notification: Naturalization Ceremony Scheduled; waited for letter to be uploaded on online account - it has been set on Wednesday, July 25, 3:00 p.m.

07-25-2018: I am now a U.S. Citizen!
