Hello fellows! Just got bio letter, stating that I should go and take it on Monday, 4/9. Since it is a weekday, just trying to see if it is possible to move it to a weekend. Anyone has any experience before? Thank you guys!

Aren't they closed on weekends?

Just read the letter carefully. It seems that they are going to reschedule the next available day if I put the request. But I think it will be another weekday, b/c you are right, they do close at weekends.

So I will have to talk to my boss now...

See I told you, it’s all about the person at the desk when u got there . She had some compassion and Iam glad she changed her mind. Amazing! 👍👍👍👍👍

So we braved the 3 hr drive and got there at 0900.  The officer said they would not be able to fit us in because they had 94 appts scheduled.  She advised us to mail the notice back in and request a reschedule.  I said well given the work situation, we had to risk the 3 hr drive.  She seemed surprised that we drove that far and looked again at his notice.  She then said oh you came from Alabama, and told us to come back at 2pm.  We walked the town some and ate, then got back at 1:40pm.  We were done in 10 min.  I'm so glad she changed her mind.

That's a great tribute to your persistence. Too often we hear horror stories of bad treatment and don't celebrate the good people that actually are accommodating.

I had a random thought while driving to work today... I know we are not required to show evidence of our renewed legal status to our boss... But should we carry a copy of our extension letter with our expired Green Card in case we bump into immigration? Since CBP can stop and ask you for it in certain parts of our country? They should realize we're still residents even if it's expired right?

I keep the letter with my GC and my passport in my passport holder, i've found an awesome one that has slots for all of that. But I would never walk around with any of these documents unless I travel in another country, the risks of losing them far supersedes the almost non existent possibility of running randomly into CBP. And I would assume that even if that happens, they can easily find you in the system or they can drive you home in a nice CBP car lol.

So you don't even carry your Green Card? I'm not brave enough not to. I don't want to risk fines and jail time even if there's a super tiny chance of that actually happening :P

No, I never ever do :P . However I live in NYC, if I was living near the border in the South I might carry it with me.

I saw that if you get caught without it, you risk a $100 in fine + 30 days in jail; I honestly doubt they would waste money on keeping anyone in jail for a month for that reason. And I'm cool with paying $100, as the costs to replace one if I lose it or get it stolen is much higher ($455 + biometrics fee).

That is EXACTLY what happened to us a few days ago. So disappointing... Ours had a red stamp on the I-797C that said, "ACTION COMPLETED APPROVED FOR FILING" and then someone wrote in their initials and "NBC" and then a black stamp with the date of March 27th.

USPS return to sender/forward yellow sticker was dated 12/29/17

Red Stamp on outside of envelope that said, "Received Jan 04 2018 National Benefits Center #1"

This sure did bounce around quite a bit.

I wrote a full detailed account of our AOS process, timeline, AP use, and interview on my blog. You can read it here.

Seeing VSC blaze ahead is astounding to me, but I'm not even so bothered anymore. By the time they even start looking at my case it'll most likely be time to apply for citizenship and I'm just going to file my N-400. It'll be nice not to have to get a black cross through my picture every time we get to border control at the airport coming back into the country. Haha!

That's the trouble belonging to a group like this, with both Vermont and California centers on the table, you see the Vermont filers flying ahead and it makes you feel worse when nothing is happening in California, why the hell do people in Florida have to file in California anyway, Vermont is closer, there is no logic in this process at all!

I know we join these groups for support, but I found out a long time ago, there is very little support coming from the guys whose cases are progressing, just saying!
