Pulmonary Treatment outside St. lukes

My dad underwent treatment outside St. lukes way back March 22-October 5, 2016 to be exact. Then yesterday feb 1,2018 he went back to St lukes to evaluate his treatment. As per dad, they said the dosage of medicine he took was lower than St lukes expected. But in his certificate of completion he was fully treated and repeated sputum examination on May 16, 2016 and the result was Negative. I dont understand these staff of St lukes just keep on suggesting that my dad will still need to undergo 6months treatment without doing the sputum test. Please help us  what to do.

CDC gives the embassy approved doctors very specific instructions on what they expect for tb treatment and they have to adhere to them. They might look st his treatment st another facility and think at lower dose that the tb is suppressed but will come back? I thought treatment at st Luke’s is covered, did he live too far away to go in every day to have it done there?

SLEC must follow the CDC rules regarding TB diagnosis and treatment. Optimally, treatment should be done at SLEC to avoid potential issues with not meeting the CDC requirements.

To Illiria: we live in province specifically in cagayan valley thats why my dad opted to have his medical treatment in our province. 

 

To geowrian: thanks for the insight. I was just wondering why he still needs to undergo treatment if he was already treated. They should have done sputum exam to determine if my dad is still positive or not. Atleast give him explanation.

To be honest, SLEC probably doesn’t trust treatment at other centers. There are certainly cases where people have been greased or treatment was insufficient. Either way, it’s the CDC requirements they follow. Unfortunately, I’m unsure of the procedures SLEC follows to verify that TB is completely inactive after treatment (other than the 1 year wait, which has been met already).

Center for Disease Control  (CDC) makes the rules .... SLEC has to adhere to them.     Going to an outside doctor that did NOT follow "the rules" did not help.

 

Want the visa you have to pass the medical .. and that includes CDC mandated treatment for TB when required.
