Federal Guidelines for K1

I know I make enough ($70K last year plus a home and land with no mortgage (worth an additional $80K) ), so I'm not concerned about it, but I am curious.... (trying to think how to phrase this so it makes sense, now lol)

With the 125% of federal poverty guideline requirement, and the addition of dependents, would one count the beneficiary as a dependent (so if you had one dependent child, would the beneficiary make a second dependent?). Theres a big difference between $20K and $25K if you were trying to nickel and dime it to qualify. And god forbid you had more than one kid or your fiance(e) had children coming with them.

Paul and I were talking about it last night, and neither one of us knew. I have a coworker who has brought two over on a K1 (the first one didnt work out i think they were only married a couple of years. i dont know if she went back to where ever she was from or not). But I do know he only makes about $20K and has one kid. I know his house is not paid off, but its a low mortgage (i do his taxes for him, thats how i know these things lol). I think his first wife had a kid previous to their marriage.

just butting my nose where it doesnt belong and being curious about it is all lol i dont know him well enough to feel comfortable asking those finite details lol

He might have had a cosponsor to help him be able get his fiancé over here.

However many people he’s claiming in his taxes are considered part of the household. If it’s just him and the beneficiary it’s two. If he’s got one child, it’s 3, and so on.

I hadn't thought of that, it's certainly possible

Also does he have any kinds of property or large assets? You can use that as well.
