Stats like that are pretty useless, there is no indication as to what job sectors are growing. With orlando at the top, I would guess most of the job growth has been in tourism and hospitality type jobs. Not ussualy very high paying.

The link actually gives examples and average salaries of the hottest jobs in each location. So, guess...or, y'know...read the article.

Who wants to do retail anyway? :P

Isn't that sort of insulting to people who work retail, tho? People work retail for all sorts of reasons...they enjoy it, they need a bit of extra cash, they're a student who needs flexible hours, they're just starting out, or maybe they can't find anything else. No offense, but I worked retail jobs when I was a college student and people just sh@t on me all day, treating me like something less than human because I wore a name tag and developed photos. Retail clerks deserve as much courtesy as everybody else. (F)

I think ET-2004 was making a joke (I hope so anyway). I agree with everything you said about working in retail. There are probably many jobs people don't want to do, but someone has to do them. Various reasons lead different people to do different jobs. IMO, no matter what job you have it will be worthwhile for the employer\employee, no one should be looked down upon because of the job they do.

LOL.. oh Reinhard was makin a joke.. I still work on the weekends in retail, I can still hustle 100 bucks in comission every saturday or so.. lolol.. thing is, yea, soon enough, who will want to work in retail, sadly, all retailers have this 'cost saving' trend, where they're cutting employee's wages, benefits, and still demanding knowledgeable and good customer service givers.. yeah right..

that's one of the things i didnt like bout the new CEO we got, yea yea, he saved KMART and Sears from bankruptcy (Julian Day).. but, who the fukc goes to Kmart anymore.. and we work on comission, u can't come in and just cut all incentives (gas cards, gift cards, etc).. to hustlas like me LOL

I might look into moving to Orlando, FL. Hopefully, the cost of living is the same or close to that of Massachusetts.

4.) Charlotte, NC, 5.7% ????

I know that Charlotte is hot if you have a lot of job experience, but for college grads this place is hell. I know that, I live here (not any longer though)!!!! All you get offered as a college grad are really crappy jobs with yearly salaries in the low twenty-thousands. Or they want you to do direct marketing which translates into going from door to door and try to sell old harmless grandmas some worthless ####### with aggressive methods. On the other hand though if you have 8-10 years of relevant experience you can earn a fortune here.

I just think it is very misleading to call it a hot job market - college grads definitely should not fall for that!!!!

In general when someone is talking about 'the job market' they mean for mid-career professionals. Grads are a whole different ballgame, but a lot of college graduates expect the effing moon once they get that bachelor's degree. I only know one person from college who got more than $40k right out of school (the rest of us were in the low to mid-20s), and I make more than she does now. I graduated from college 10 years ago this year...wasn't that long ago. :luv:

I am not surprise the SIllicon Valley is not on the List, 10 years from now it will be like LA but for only those rich CEO who sold out america for quick profit.

300 people get laid off, and it doesn't even get reported

WHY

300 people got hired in SINGAPORE as such the HEAD COUNT doesn't change. Time to start outsourcing those Directors and CEO make them move overseas, better yet, outsourced their jobs overseas.

Gone but not Forgotten!
