Marriage and AOS

My fiancee arrived this week and we have until Mid -March ,when K1 visa expires to get married.

 

My question is, can we get married now and apply for AOS at a later date, AFTER Mid-March? or do we also have to apply for AOS before K1 visa expires?

You have to get married  before you apply for AOS. Go get her a Social Security  card then after you get married  go back and change her name on ut to her married  name. This will help in showing  residence when you file her AOS.

Yes. As long as you get married before mid-March, you can submit AOS documents after mid-March.

I wouldn’t recommend AOS after the 90 days are up. Just get married and do it. The longer you take to do it, the longer the immigrant sits in limbo without being able to travel, work, get a driver’s license in most states. Why would you wanna prolong that? The way things are going with USCIS now it’s taking longer and longer every month. Do everything ASAP.

Usually it's a monetary reason for delay. There could also be a lot of post wedding details to work out. And sometimes there's a move to a new residence after a wedding. My wife and I went the CR1 route and due to post wedding stuff, a change in my position at work, and a change of residence, we were not able to file the application until 3 months after the wedding. The OP asked if they could delay AOS after the 90 days are up, and the answer is yes.
