Legally you can bring in counterfeit items into the USA as long as it is one item each.  Like one LV purse, one Mont Black ball pen, etc.

You must declare it on customs forms and it must be for personal use only.

Thank you very much. I just don't want anything to cause any problem to my POE to the US.

It's not about counterfeit items.  It's about violating copyright laws.

"CBP enforces laws relating to the protection of trademarks and  copyrights. Articles that infringe a federally registered trademark or  copyright or copyright protected by the Berne Convention for the  Protection of Literary and Artistic Works are subject to detention and/  or seizure. Infringing articles may consist of articles that use a  protected right without the authorization of the trademark or copyright  owner or articles that copy or simulate a protected right."

Did I say it was a counterfeit Item? No

I made a second post telling the poster they could also bring in counterfeit items and as long as it is one item each,  and gave examples like a LV Handbag, or a Mont Blanc Ball pen

OP is asking about downloaded movies on the hard drive, not about bringing in counterfeit items.    You are misinterpreting what I stated.

Sounds like you are getting lost here. Maybe re read my post and you will understand more of what the OP asked and what my answer was?

Understand?

I enjoy bringing home items I find in ChinaTown or on the streets especially in Manila.   Some are good and last for years some last for days.

I have purchased "Rolex" watches in Manila for like 200 pesos, They don't hold up well, but make great converstation piece and look good if not used.

A got a brand new I phone for $50 buck on the streets in Ermita, it actually held up very well.

I have gotten LV wallets in Davao City Chinatown for like 200 peso and they hold up like the real thing.  So many knock off stuff you can find in Philippines.  Cologne is a another thing that comes cheap there.

I used to buy a CD with like 20 movies on them of the same actor or actress in Chinatown Davao, paid like 100 pesos.

I LOVE that area in Manila and the seedier area around it!  We spent a day there on my last trip and bought some jewelry.  What an amazing experience!

Hi everyone. I am leaving for the US on Sunday. I just want to ask if it's ok to bring my 1TB hard drive with downloaded movies (Filipino and American movies) in it. I just worry about it being scanned.

We bring a portable HD with us (going to and coming from the Philippines). we put it in our checked luggage and never had an issue.   Everything is scanned at the airports, both carry-on and checked.  We bring digital copies of many of our movies as it is much easier than trying to pack hundreds of DVDs each trip.

No way around the scanning at the security checkpoints.  Scanning does not damage a hard drive.  My laptop as been scanned a hundred times and the HD has not been affected

YMMV
