What kind of checking do they do after the fiance visa interview? For example do they call the petioners job they put on the affidavit of support? I became unnemployed because I was staying with my fiance in the Philippines for the interview, but there was a problem with his medical and the interview got extended way longer than we thought. But my tax return and income was above whats required. So on the w2 and tax return meets the requirments.

I read that US embassy asks how many times and how long the petioner visited them. What should my fiance say? Should he tell them i stayed for 4 months? Ive came to visit him twice . 1st time for a month (my job was cool with it) then second time for 4 months. So of course that means i dont have one right now. But when he gives them my 2016 income tax(we wont get new ones until after Jan 30th 2018) it met the poverty requirments. His interview is on the 8th

Applicant should always tell the truth to any question asked.  Also, should only answer the question asked rather than try to figure why the question is being asked and offer additional information.

YMMV

They never contacted my employer but I needed a letter from my employer within so many months of the interview date and I think 3 or 4 months worth of my most recent paystubs. I make well above the poverty line as well and never had any issues but I have read that sometimes ppl have been required to provide letters and paystubs (I did this anyways).

This might become an issue with you apply for AOS after getting married because you are required to meet the $20,000 (? I know it is more than the K1 requirement) requirement and prove everything all over again with employer letter and 6 months of recent paystubs.

Thank you for your reply! Yes I am telling him to not worry and to not look at the questions like they are out to get him lol but I'll tell him to make sure he tells the truth

So fiance had their interview and after the interview they requested you send recent pay stubs? Is that what you mean?

For AOS I'm not too worried because if we don't file for it before I get my income tax for 2017 we will need a sponsor anyways. But my sister said she would

I was actually in Sydney visiting my now Husband at the time. I had just arrived about 72 hours before the interview we had planned the trip well before he knew his interview date.

I just brought 4 or 5 months of recent paystubs with me and a newer employment letter because the one I sent in with the initial packet was getting close to the six month mark (I had read in a couple of forums they needed the letter to be within six months of the interview date and these people were told this at the actually interview itself so the approval was put on hold, I just brought everything with me to avoid any issues). This was on top on my three years of tax returns. He had no issues but I just made sure I had everything I thought they might ask for. My husband said they took all of the financial paperwork I supplied out of the binder when he checked in. We believe they reviewed it before calling him up for the interview. There were no financial questions just very straight forward questions about him and me (his interview lasted about 5-10 minutes) but he comes from what is considered a low risk country. I know people have talked about their interviews being much more intense.

No they do not call your employer.  As you know the requirement is the I-134, most recent tax return and W2, which until 15 April 2018 is still the 2016.   They may ask your fiance where you work, or may not... big depends there.

Since 2014 USEM has been sporadic about even requesting support evidence with the K-1, they still do ask for the I-134/tax return/W2 at times, so best be prepared.

Yes many times the CO does ask how many times the petitioner came to visit, but it isn't a big deal, most only visit one time to meet the "2 year requirement".    How to answers questions... ANY questions?  HONESTLY!!   For sure DON'T lie.  And one other suggestion along that line... NEVER volunteer information.  Answer the question that was asked, then be quiet.  Smile and look them in the eyes when speaking also.   Most interviews last less than 5 minutes at USEM.

Will it result in a denial , if he tells them about my job? Like he doesn't volunteer information but they directly ask him "the most recent trip exactly how long did she stay" I know it's unlikely they will ask that, we are just so worried about that. And if they ask "where does she work?" Should he just say I am between jobs right now?

Do you have a close family member that could be a co-sponsor ?   (parents, siblings)   If they directly ask about "where you work" .. lying is B-A-D .   .. and a denial in the making.   But if he answers honestly and you have a co-sponsor in the wings.. they "might" accept the co-sponsor.

Rule # 1    =     NEVER LIE

Are your presently seeking employment?  (I know dumb question)

Yes I am presently seeking employment and I have family members and even some friends that would be willing, but I didn't think about that. His interview is the 8th, so I don't think anyone could get there co sponsor form in time

They would likely ask you to find a co-sponsor if it became an issue.

With the K-1 the embassy is not required to accept a co-sponsor, but when they do they look for close family members as I mentioned earlier, NOT friends.

IF .. if support evidence /co-sponsor were to become a topic..  if.  You could have your family member complete the I-864 and provide a copy of their tax return & W2.

At the interview, IF the right questions were asked and support evidence was necessary .. then you could easily get this completed and FedEx to your fiance after the interview..    Just be prepared..

Thank you for the information,  also if he happened to get denied, how long before we know? Will they tell him at the interview?

Normally the process is to receive a 221G request for additional documentation after the interview .. IF additional support evidence is needed, this is usually by email.

Then embassy does not usually issue an outright denial without requesting additional documentation, unless there are other issues.
