Hello,

I would like feedback about my current situation. I am a U.S citizen petitioning to adjust my mother's status so she can get a green card and I just received a notice of intent to deny. The basis is that last name on her birth certificate differs from mine. Despite her date and place of birth matching on each of our certificates, they claim that I have failed to establish that a relationship exists. The reason is my mother ignorantly put my father's last name as her maiden name on my birth certificate. I can understand the reasoning but it is frustrating to get denied on such a technicality. What kind of evidence should I provide in order to avoid a denial?

Thank you for your time

Thank you for your message. Though it seems to be the only option at this point, I don't think a DNA test is practical given the time constraints. I have a deadline of 30 days to respond.

I just googled quick DANA test and the first link said results in 3 to 5 days. I'm not sure what the exact requirements are but seems possible.
