Hey gang,

so I got a I 797C in the mail about a month ago, confirming my I 129 f has been recieved.

on the letter there is no priority date, but says to notify the USCIS if any changes come about.

all the information is correct.  But i have been waiting for about a month.

And am curious what the next step is.

Do they notify you by mail, do i have to contact someone ?

My fiancee is in Colombia and was curious if any one had the same time frame.

I know things take a while

am just wanting to do everything correctly so i don't miss something

I'm very new to all this just curious for your help.

Thanks

Acceptance/rejection and approval/denial are always sent out my mail, so are RFE letters. You have to wait for either an approval/denial or an RFE, which will most likely take around 5-6 months. I hghly suggest you read up on what will happen next, and also what needs to be done by the time your fiancé arrives in the US, it's very important to know the whole process and every part of it to avoid unnecessary RFEs, delays and denials.

There's a whole forum section for those who file the i-129f, each month has its own thread where you can talk to other people who are in the same situation and have the same timeline as you. There's also regional forums where you can find people from the same country as your fiancé, this is particularly important as everything after the NVC stage in this process is country specific.

I suggest you create an account on uscis.gov and check the settings so you get email and/or text messages when something happens to your case. Not required, but it's a nice thing to have for those who don't check their case status often and still want updates immediately when there's an RFE or approval etc.

Hello --

I'd also recommend you to frequent these two realms of Visa Journey:

I believe the two links mentioned above are more suitable resources of information for you and your fiance at this stage (i.e. I-129F). I wouldn't worry so much about AOS (and EAD / AP) now -- you'd only be doing AOS once your fiance arrived in the US and are married to you so you still have some time. Focus and make sure that you know what your fiance need to prepare for his/her K-1 Visa interview at the US Embassy in his/her city. These requirements differ from country to country so Columbia Portal above would be the best way to find out what's your next step.

Also, speaking from experience as I was in the same boat as you (K-1 Visa) this whole process takes some time. It will be stressful and frustrating BUT be patient and have fun together in the process.

GOOD LUCK and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

J/G
