If I get a marriage license in MANILA, can i marry anywhere in the Phils? or can I only get married in Manila???

You would only be allowed to get married in Manila and not one of the provinces at all.

I have a question for you though and don't take this the wrong way but Why are you in such a rush if your going to get married in 2019? Also I saw that your fiance is American right and not Filipino, so is this like a destination wedding?

I know of no one that has used that document from the consulate to secure a certificate to marry.   Everyone I have ever read of have gotten the document from the embassy.

I did the K-1 fiancee visa route  so the only info I have of getting married in the Phils are from those that shared this on here.   I have friends that got married in the Phils, but never asked them any details on the marriage, I just helped them with the DCF process for the visa.

The marriage license is issued by the local registry, can't be used just anywhere.     If you are getting married in a smaller city, your fiancee may be able to get things started before you arrive.. just saying ;)

umm we are both american living in Texas. neither of us are in Philippines to get the ball rolling. just saying.

not a rush. just trying to understand this useless and unnecessary 'hoops' you have to go thru just to get married... :)

it better to know the A to Z process NOW than it is NEXT year or in 2019.

That makes sense and like I said before I am not trying to be rude just trying to get a clear picture of things before I comment. I don't care if it's two purple people getting married or not I am just asking. I will try to dig some more for you, again I apologize if I came off as rude.

at the US embassy in Manila do you get the Affidavit In Lieu of a Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage on the DAY of appointment OR will they mail to you?!!?

how does this work?

You get it the same day, but you would have to make an appointment for that on their website.

you are not coming off as rude. I am just getting frustrated, knowing that we have to make 2 TRIPS!!!

1st trip to manila to get that

Affidavit In Lieu of a Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage

but do we get that on the DAY OF APPOINTMENT???

after that come back to US.

2nd trip, go to municipal town to get the license then wait 10 days before we can actually marry in the church!!!

again, time is money, money is time.

I don't like to WAIT.

Posted

if we did this in one SINGLE trip, would that mean, 4 weeks altogether from the time we get the

Affidavit In Lieu of a Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage  to the time we get married?!!?

of course, i have to think about my holiday hours from my work here in Texas!

I completely understand that and trust me WE KNOW THE PHILIPPINES IS SLOW AS HELL it is big grievance we have on here. Actually it does bring up a good point for me because I want to do a renewing of vows down in Mindanao with my wife and it won't be in the church(because I won't convert) so it will be on the beach. I have to look up how to go about doing it.

We got married at a JOP marriage in NC, now we want to do a nicer one

You figured that out without even having real ties there!!!  It is an amazing place with awesome people but you have to literally slow down everything about your life or you will drive yourself crazy!  No one is ever in a hurry there...

I am just wondering out loud...neither of you have ties to Phils, why get married there?  It s gorgeous with some of the best beaches in the world and the view of the sunset over Manila Bay brings a tear to my eye every time I see it but it is a 20 hour flight from the US!!!  I don't mean to pry, just curious.
