Congrats .. be sure to write down the number ( I photocopied mine just incase) as they actually take the old ssn card away when they issue your new one and you have to wait a couple weeks for it in the mail

Ah good tip thanks. :D

I got my EAD card in the mail today and it was only sent out yesterday :o I am going to the SSA office tomorrow to change my SSN to my married name and get can not work taken off. :)

It was a great day my husband got some medical answers and we are hopeful that this will help his current issues. :) So we went to Outback Steakhouse tonight for supper to celebrate. :D

Awesome! You deserve a little celebration! I hope the new answers from the doctors will help! :D

Has anyone received an RFE this far along? I applied on Dec. 22 for I-485, I-765 and I-131 and now just received an RFE for initial evidence and found out that it can re-start the timeline from day 1. I'm so discouraged! My husband works as a baseball player in Canada in the summer from May-September and I can't even go see him. I'm beyond frustrated!

Where did you find out that it can re-start your timeline?

I filed my AOS/EAD/AP in December and got RFA in April. It's been 2.5 weeks since they've received my response, but I haven't heard anything back yet.

A friend of mine received a RFE for her AOS as well, and she got told as well, that a RFE sets your timeline back. Makes no sense, but apparently it's not only a rumor!

The USCIS told her? I asked them and they told me RFE for AOS puts your EAD and AP on hold, but they didn't tell me it sets you back all the way to when you started. Considering it took them 5 months to open my application, that would be my nightmare!

I just asked her to make sure:
She said she had 2 different people on the phone, one told her it gets started over, one said it doesn't.

Oh my.

BUT... she had to wait almost 6 months to get her EAD, so it kind of makes sense.

LOL why am I not surprised they can't even get their stories straight in that office? smh

THANK YOU for checking with her though! It's been almost 6 months for me since filing for EAD, so hopefully that means I'll get it soon too.

Yeah she just said, her case was also "on hold" because of her RFE. So.... that was for 3 months lol

She just got her card last week, and has been a November filer.

No comment lol

Fingers are crossed for you! It will pop in sooner or later. Mine took 136 days! I filed middle December and got it 2 weeks ago!

So that is actually true...they shift your timeline back to day 1 if you get an RFE...Called the USCIS today and that is what they told me..

It depends what the rfe was for I believe. This is discussed on the uscis website.

Most just go on hold.

anyone have a clue on what happens after EAD/AP? I got married Dec 7 and filed for AOS on Dec 19. I filed for AP in January and got the biometrics appointment done in February and my AP received in early March - I just got my EAD card last week - but there has been no update on the I-485 and since they changed the estimated wait times on the egov website - it's unclear. My service center is National Benefits Center which does not even show up as an option for the I-485 on the site. All I see is a bunch of local offices and like one or two other service centers. Anyone else have NBC as their center and does anyone know what happen from here? And does anyone have a timeline if they are further along in the process? Any information will be a glimpse of hope to this super long process.

Hi congrats on your ead !

Its just a waiting game from here on in. Wait to hear about your interview ..it can take a few months to 3 yrs..every city is different.

Your i485 will be handled at a city near where you live.

I think they contradict themselves sometimes as some say yes, an RFE can set you back to day 1 but others say no it basically pauses your application. I received the RFE 148 days after they received my AOS. I am now on day 158, sent everything they requested (more financial info) right away and i'm just waiting. I'm trying to remain positive and not get discouraged but it's frustrating. I had the Biometrics done February 2nd, so you would have thought they would have touched my case before now. It took them 4 3/4 months to issue me an RFE. I can't wait to get that EAD/AP and be able to finally go visit my husband in Canada.
