Hello friends,

Just a quick feedback:

I didn't find anything about certified copy of the marriage license on the USCIS document requirements, so we've sent the customer copy + a statement of my husband telling that our official document will be available only in a couple of weeks (we married at one of the L.A. Courthouses and they take 6 - 8 weeks to send the formal documents, after the marriage). They accepted our application. :)

The I-130 instruction request a marriage certificate. The Marriage Certificate is basically a certified Marriage License. When you get married, the Marriage License is signed by the officiant and sometimes witnesses. Typically, the officiant returns the signed Marriage License to the County Clerk from whom you obtained the Marriage License. The county clerk files the executed license and stamps it certifying that the license has been fully executed and filed. This becomes your marriage certificate proving you are legally married.
