If I'm wrong please correct me but I believe that even if the nationality of the USC's family is Egyptian the couple must still marry at the Ministry of Justice. I know of another girl on VJ (I won't say her name) who is a USC of Egyptian decent (both parents are full blooded Egyptian), she had to marry her husband at the ministry because she is technically a foreigner. When I got married in Egypt there were Egyptian couples at the ministry getting married because one of the two were from another country. Meaning they were Egyptian but a citizen of another country.

But what are her parents' nationalities.....the only reason I'm asking is because if either of her parents are Egyptian, then she can get married in Egypt wthout having to get any documents from the US Embassy there. If not, then I guess the K1 would be the way to go.
yep she is USC , and her paresnts too , i think we should the k1 visa if this sitiuation didnt fix till june , but i just thought that spouse of usc is better than fiance in procing of application, but if we dont have any other solution we should use the k1 , we know eachother for 4 months ago and in june will be the first meeting between us after that she will go back to states to work on our application ,she will stay with me for 10 days , is our stiuation like this good for k1 visa or not strong yet??

If the USC is born in the US but has Egyptian parents, he/she can get an Egyptian birth certificate which takes 1 or 2 days to do in Egypt or several weeks if done at the Egyptian consulate in New York or Washington.....I did this last July when I was married and we did not have to go to the Ministry of Justice.

I find that interesting too. I thought that to have a legal marriage in Egypt, everyone went to the MOJ. And to prove it is legal for immigrations purposes, you needed to do that and get all those papers translated, etc. I guess I was wrong. I know that you can marry at the mosque (islamic marriage), but for some reason I thought that was just part of it. What about Coptic Christians? do they only have church weddings???

I guess I've been reading too much about "orfi" marriages and the difference between those and marriages at MOJ. PPL on Egypt based boards that I frequent have mentioned that the protections a woman needs in marriage are provided for in the marriage contract you get at the MOJ (something like that . . . I think you can have certain things included too, but I didn't do that).

Oh, well, considering that I didn't have other options . . . not being Egyptian of any sort (although ppl keep saying "now you are Egyptian!!) . . . that agonizing trip to the MOJ was my big day!!!

my love will come to egypt in june to marry, what we should do if this problem didnt fixed till june?

If she is Muslim you can at least get married Islamically and then file for K-1 and when you can get to the US, if you're approved for a K-1, then you just get the civil marriage in the US.

If she isn't Muslim, then you just wait til you're approved for K-1 and go to the US to get married, or perhaps you could both go to another country around Egypt somewhere and get married.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

Yea sounds weird that some1 born in the US could get an Egyptian birth certificate but M&N is totally right. I was about to do that, and we were so close, they told us at some office to just get my parents' marriage cert translated in english and come the next day, then some1 else said no its not necessary we can do it without the translation... then clumsy me... I had to LOSE my US birth cert, which they needed, and I only brought one copy :( it was a mess, I was mad

And, we opted not to go to the old MOJ...

My husband said this is the same thing as the marriage contract. Many women go to Egypt and do this that are not muslims and then come back and file for the K-1

Why (or how) would anyone get married Islamically if they weren't Muslim???

Please do not call unions with no legitimate backing "Islamic". They are not so because they do not provide for any enforcement or protections for the parties involved that make a marriage valid in Islam. Just because they are performed in a masjid doesn't make their contracts enforcable. If they were enforcable and valid, you could apply for a K3 or CR1 visa with them, but you can't because no entity that can enforce your "marriage" considers them to be valid. And if you just want to say you are married before "God", you can do that without a masjid or an Iman. It would be just as valid as a non-enforcable, non-protected marriage. When you are in a Muslim country, it is not halal for you to make up your own rules to justify intimacy before proper marriage. The rules made the by the ulema are made for Muslims in that country to follow, and we are to follow the rules of the land in which we enter willingly. So please follow proper marriage laws, and not just those that cause you to take shortcuts so you can do as you wish to satisfy yourselves.

Since when is an Islamic marriage not a proper marriage?

If someone is Muslim and has an Islamic ceremony, there are no rules being made up. As far as I know, all Muslims can have an Islamic ceremony and why should one Muslim be any different than another in that respect?

If someone wants to make that marriage legitimate in another country, then they will follow some rules about having the contract registered or going through whatever process the other country requires, but before Allah, an Islamic ceremony is completely acceptable.

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

from what i understand, there is a version that is nothing more than a "sex paper" marriage. geg can explain it in greater detail. in short, not all marriages are equal.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
