I can say, I have never gotten mad when I am out running, but I do get a little miffed when a bicyclist comes up from behind without warning me as I usually run with the dog, and she loves to chase a bike.

One of my pet peeves when we are walking our dogs on the local trails, it ticks me off too. Don't ride or run up on someone's back without saying something to let the people in front of you know you're there, we cannot always hear you coming. All it takes is a "coming up behind you"  or "passing on the left", but no, they'd just as soon sneak up on you and risk injury for everyone involved. There's a couple that rides their bikes on the trail around the same time we walk our dogs every weekend, they both have bells on their bikes and they give them a ring when approaching us. It doesn't take much and a little courtesy goes a long way. Whenever someone gives us a heads up that they're approaching us, I always thank them so they know it's appreciated.

I ride bikes as well and when I am on a trail, I always give a loud "on the left" (not politically speaking of course) when coming up on a walker, runner, or rollerblader as they often have earphones in.  It is just common courtesy.

Yeah, my wife and I walk almost every morning by the lakefront and then up some of the hills in our downtown area not far from the shop and there are many bike paths but people usually let you know if they're coming up on your right or left. we don't do jogging but we usually do anywhere from 2 to 3.5 miles or so and we do it fast(about 30 minutes to just over an hour) - actually just got back not that long ago and my heart rate's still in the 90's lol. I can imagine walking that fast hitting a bicycle would not be fun but people are pretty good about letting you know. What I do not like however is how every non driver in this area be it a pedestrian, cyclist or jogger think they can just keep going even if you have a green light and just expect drivers to stop for them.

I agree, non-drivers still have to adhere to traffic signals.  It is rather stupid not to nowadays considering all the distracted drivers out there.  This is one of the reasons I do not ride my bike on roadways anymore and only on vehicle restricted bike paths in local parks.

Not in Toronto. Pedestrians don't believe in traffic signals there.

Also, for much of my life I wanted a motorcycle, but given all the horrific videos I've seen, and how many people I know who've gotten permanent injuries due to accidents (thanks to idiots on the road), I likely won't ever bother with the risk, especially in a winter city.

I just sold my Harley this past Spring.  I never had any incidents, and decided I didn't want one in the future.

I'm lazy saying "on your left", I just use a bell.

Interesting thing happen this past week, saw an impatient motorcyclist use the bicycle lane to pass cars. Two days later on the highway, saw a motorcyclist drive between lanes of cars like bicyclist do in this city (this was during rush hour). Very annoying and dangerous behavior, but it may ultimately catch up with them.

A bell works just fine, anything that lets the people in front of you know you're there.

I run into this quite often with a guy on a motor scooter who commutes down the main thoroughfare about the same time I do in the morning, I usually encounter him 2 or 3 times a week. He uses the breakdown lane, bicycle lane and darts in and out of traffic, it's a miracle he's still alive.
