Got K1, it seems B2 not cancelled? (split and merged)

hi guys, i just got my k1 visa and i too have an existing b1/b2 that has not been cancelled by the embassy. 

 

since the last entry here is over a year old, i was just wondering if anything has changed to the advise on here? ie it's no issues to keep both visas and i should not do anything special like contact the embassy to have the b1/b2 cancelled?

 

also to the OP @cj21 - did you end up keeping your b1/b2 active when you entered on your K1? if so, how was your experience? i hope no issues at all at POE?

what was your experience with a valid b1/b2 while you entered on a k1? any issues at poe?

Only if the similar thread is yours too (or in rare cases, if there is a designated Megathread, such as for monthly filers or Trump immigration policies).

Confusing topic, what exactly is the question?

 

Why would there be an issue if you enter via K1 and have a B2?

i have a valid / unexpired b1/b2 visa. when they (USEM) stamped my k1 visa, they did not "cancel" the b1/b2. i was under the impression that when one gets issued a k1 (or any other immigrant visa for that matter) any other visa such as a b1/b2 will be cancelled without prejudice. so the questions are:

 

1) is it normal to have two valid visas?

2) would there be any issues at POE in this case?

Sometimes they are cancelled sometimes they are not. Its a non issue.

You can have multiple visa's current at any one time.

My B1/B2 visa has still not been marked as cancelled at this point. I entered at my POE with my K1 visa and the IO didnt stamp cancelled on my tourist visa. Not sure if it is still valid at point. I dont know how to check it. But, no issues has been encountered so far. 

 

My AOS is still pending and though I have my combo card already, I havent left US yet. My husband and I will visit Philippines this November and I will have to see by then how it goes.

hi just want to give an update for anyone who might stumble upon this thread later on.

 

I POE'd without any issues. the CBP officer did not even look at, or mention my B1/B2 visa.
