Study in USA from PH

Hi, I'm Mary from Philippines. I am already on my 3rd year nursing but I am currently processing my fiance visa. My question are: What is better? Should I just finished my course here in the philippines or just transfer in the US? My fiance wants me to finish school in US. Will my subjects be credited or should I start from the beginning? I know nothing about getting in a nursing school in US and I've read a lot of forums that says that it's hard to get in a nursing program because you have to wait for 1-2 years. What do they mean by that? It's hard to enroll in a nursing school?

Some will some won't.  You will need transcript (?) from your college.  There is a company that does this.. sadly I don't have the link handy, hopefully someone here will have it.

 

Costly will be DRAMATICALLY  more in the USA.  

 

I know of many nurses that had completed college in the Philippines, then only needed to take the certification test in the USA.  (this again is from memory)

If you can wait and would want to save time and money - finish your Nursing degree in the Philippines. Once you finish it, all you need to do is pass the NCLEX exam, get the school paperwork certified upon passing and you are good to go. As long as you pass the board, employers would not care where you graduate. Unless you have the money to pay an average $11K/sem++, get your credentials verified, then by all means you can finish it in the US. Just a thought. Others might have other ideas.

I agree. Finish your degree in the Phil, unless of course your future husband is rich, as it is going to cost 5 times more in the US then the Phil. As the member above stated it's easier once you have your degree from the Phil to only pass the NCLEX test to be certified. 

 

 

If you have to have your records transcribed in the event you do want complete your education then bring some transcripts with but make sure to get one copy in an official envelope, sealed by the college and then send it to http://www.cgfns.org/ for the transcript of your courses.

I think you would have been better off getting married in the Philippines and then apply for CR-1 when you start your final year. Then you could come to USA right after finishing school and be able to work right away. . 

As others have said it will be much more expensive finishing your schooling in USA, but if your future husband has money to burn do it whatever way makes you both happy.

Great suggestion. It's one of those things that the palm of your hand goes straight for your forehead and you hear yourself say "now why didn't I think of that" moment.

Thank you so much everyone. 😊 this is also my thoughts and I will have this screenshot for my boyfriend. I also will not agree to study there because I have done my research and it says it cost 100k$ to finish in USA. While in PH. I only need 3000$. That's my tuition until graduation. I feel bad for my boyfriend. We could already have a business by that money. But he really wants me to study there because he miss me everyday but I told him that it's only 1 and a half more years. We can do it.

I have been with my girlfriend for over 6 years. In the first 3 years I had gone to the Philippines 4 times. After that we planned to get married. Due to a lot of unfortunate circumstances we have not seen each other in person for 3 1/2 years. So I know what missing someone is all about. LDR's are very hard. But one thing I know is we stayed strong together and finally this September we will get married, then another wait for the visa. There is no doubt that we are both very strongly committed. 1 1/2 years is not very long and hopefully he can make a few visits during that time. In the end I think it will be best for both of you.
