Apologies can't find the link I read earlier, but it is a process that if all goes well it will take 1-3 years which is a common figure across most sites. For some it may take longer mentally and physically.

Yes, the transition might take 1-3 year. Not the recovery from surgery.

Any surgery can go wrong so the recovery time can be even longer. It's elective surgery and should be done on your own time and dime.

US military best medical insurance in the world. Would be better if they spent the money used on elective surgeries and treatments on their veterans.

Why do you assume all transgender people are in the middle of transitioning? A lot of them are done and ready to serve their country.

It doesn't matter if it's 1 or 100, my point is the military shouldn't be paying for it to begin with.

Not a chance,  the guy cant even get an extra scoop of ice cream without someone running to the media and that was right in the thick of the Russia saga.

Would hate to distract from a multitude of conspiracy theories.

After all, they're making Trump look better than the left, that's for sure.

I haven't got a clue, but why should anyone be allowed time off from active duty to complete elective multiple surgeries.

i don't know why you'd assume they get time off for active duty for such a thing. how many in military miss the births of their children, deaths of loved ones? i mean, come on. have you seen evidence that this occurs?

Nothing wrong with it. I get to take my daily dose of eltroxin like most members of my family, it's like our family curse. The extra 60 pounds refuse to come off that I had put on before I was diagnosed.

I assume anyone that has surgery needs time off. How much time off does an active military member get, how long is each surgery? Surely at some point one has to effect the other.

transgendered people are already serving, have served, are current veterans. i get that this makes trump fans very very ecstatic, it really doesn't matter if he announced it by pigeon carrier or twitter. imo, the reason trump announced this at this particular time was to try and deflect the attention from himself and all the sessions questions. in trump terms, he was attempting to direct a plot change.

This is really a non-issue. Any American brave enough to serve our country deserves nothing less than our respect.

It's lip service, just to appease some of the alt-right supporters, as sample-evidenced by some of the responses in this thread.   Pathetic move to deviate attention from the failures and irregularities involving his administration. #sad.
