I have a question for anyone who can help me out ASAP. My fiancé arrived in the U.S. on a K1 visa exactly a week from today. My brother is making a quick trip to Vegas next weekend and my fiancé and I are going along. We did not plan on this trip and it suddenly came up, but we came up with an idea. It would be awesome if we could marry while we are in Vegas. However, I am not quite sure if this is possible considering my fiancé will not have a social security number yet since we have to wait like 2 weeks for him to be entered into the system and be generated a SS#. I have looked up the requirement to marry in Vegas thru google and they state that a SS# is required. But then I noticed on some VJ members, that they married in Vegas after a week of arriving in the U.S. How is this possible? Maybe a SS# is not required to marry in Vegas. Please anyone who can point me in the right direction. This trip came up suddenly and after I told my fiancé he got super excited and would love to marry in Vegas.

Thanks guys

you do not need an SS number to get married in Vegas - my husband didn't have his yet and it was no problem. They do not ask for immigration status. Remember lots of people come to Vegas from other countries to get married -- not a problem.

I would advise to allow plenty of time for the marriage license bureau -- we went in the morning and even then that line was very long.

Thanks for all your answers guys, but I have another question. Can I simply translate my fiance's passport and then attach a form that says I am fluent in the language, etc. Or does it have to be notarized and/or actually translated by someone else?
