TOURIST VISA TICKET

My parents plans to visit me here in the US using their tourist visa.They visited me once and stayed for 2 months.

My question is how long can they stay per visit? is it 6 months? if so, should we book a ticket with a return date of after 6 months?? Is that okay with CBP? And if they ask why would they stay for that long what's the best answer to answer??

A CBP officer usually stamps a passport and grants a 6-month stay. It might be best to not stay for the maximum amount of time because your parents' next entry might get scrutinized since you live in the US and the officer might suspect that they have immigration intent. To answer why the long stay, they can only be honest and state it as it is.

It is up to 6 months, but may be less. Book the ticket for at least a week less, in case of flight delays, you don;t want them to accidentally overstay.  Because they want to stay such a long time, they may be asked questions about how they can afford it, what will make them return home after the 6 months. Also, generally the recommendation is to stay out longer than you are in with a tourist visa, so if they do stay the full 6 months, be prepared that they may not be allowed back for half a year to a year afterwards.

Booking a return ticket for more than 6 months duration will not be ok. It will give off red flags to the POE officer. Also, it is the officer who decides the duration of stay. He or she may very well only give them 1 month stay.

If the max stay is 6 months, why would you book a return flight for a date after 6 months?
