Naturalization Test

Is the naturalization test a two part process?  I hear one part is oral consisting of 10 questions to which you must get 6 of them correct.  Then there is a English test both written, oral, and read back.  Is this information correct?  My spouse is preparing for the test by studying online citizenship tests, booklets, etc.  Any help would definitely be appreciated.

Yes. You answer a maximum of 10 questions, as soon as you get 6 correct the officer stops. You also read aloud a sentence and then then write it down.

plus the officer will review with him the N400 and ask questions

it is all to see if the person understands English and can keep a conversation with the officer. the officer can also ask trivial questions, how is the weather, how is the person doing? sometimes depending on the officer, he or she has asked about definitions, what do certain words on the N400 mean?

My entire USCIS packet was reviewed and I was asked general questions like "Does your husband enjoy his job at......" or "Your father-in-laws name is Bill, is he named after anyone".  Both test the knowledge of my family but also conversational to see if I understand English.

The oral sentence was "The Senate of the Legislative Branch consists of 2 senators per state" (or something similar) and then I had to write that down on the lines provided.

Then the 10 questions.  I got the first 6 correct so the officer stopped asking.  He/She does not HAVE to go to 10 but may.

Good luck.
