Unfortunately threads like this get little traction because Israel is seen as the aggressor against the poor Palestinians. Even after the recent attacks in the UK if there was a march the equivalent of the one you mentioned but it was anti Muslim there would be major outcry here on the forum. We get these marches in Dublin and I spoke about them in another thread yesterday. There was even a protest at Trinity College Dublin earlier in the year objecting to the Israeli ambassador speaking on campus. In the end it was cancelled and the flag wavers won the day. 

 

I'm guessing that hezbollah are the wrong kind of terrorist to get any outcry about around here.

 

As for the mayor not being able to stop the march, there was a parades commission set up years ago in the Northern Ireland surely there is something similar for mainland UK. The commission cannot stop the parades but they can put restrictions on them, maybe blocking certain offensive flags would be a start.

To be fair I don't blame the mayor for this. I think the laws need to be changed - if Isis are not allowed how is hezbollah different? The article in english actually makes it seem like a "peaceful protest" because all it mentions is they said stuff like free Palestine, which  for the record I have no issue with as that's part of freedom of speech. But there was actually a whole lot, less peaceful stuff said in this and other protests, and it was in support of a terror organization. These two things to me put it in a different context that should not be allowed.

 

And you are right, we have been seeing this and dealing with this as I previously mentioned for decades, all over the world. I personally witnessed one in Hyde Park when I was in London back in the early 2000's. At the time I was there with my family and we walked right through it as one of the organizers tried to hand my mom a flyer which she refused to take. The woman then realized, or assumed, that we were from Israel and made a comment along the lines of what you came to occupy us here too(as in in the Park, as if we're not allowed to walk there)? We saw them paying off little children in order to participate even though they had no clue what it was about, just so they can say hey look at all those participants, even children are against the atrocities!

 

Those people are violent, alot more violent than the people they claim to protest against. They are usually angry and dangerous, and it takes talking to them or listening to them or looking at them or their eyes for just a second to realize this.

One thing Trump is right on is about 95% of the media is dishonest. As an Israeli, you figure that out at a very early age.

One thing Trump is right on is about 95% of the media is dishonest. As an Israeli, you figure that out at a very early age.

I thought it was only FoxNews, or OAN that was dishonest along with all the identified Alt-right sites.  The left wing mainstream media is just getting a bad wrap, and the alt-Left sites like HuffPo and Salon are just reporting what the majority of the people want to hear.

 

The intention of Al Jazeera seems pretty clear and their apology doesn't seem to address this going forward, but what else is new.

Funny you should mention that, because you know how I ended up watching Fox? Back in Israel in the early 2000's when terror attacks happened about every other day, all the international networks would usually just report it as an "act of violence(some even went as far as calling it a military act) by "militant groups". It was like a deliberate refusal to ever call them terrorists, a terror group or a terror attack. An attack in London would be considered one, an attack in Madrid would be one, but in Israel? They're just freedom fighters dontcha know? I kind of grew tired of the hypocricy and the only network at the time to actually use the word terror was Fox. Growing up my family always watched CNN(I still have memories from when I was 7 and living in the US at the time due to my dad's job, and them watching the news about the first Gulf War on CNN) but I decided I was going to watch Fox because they were the only ones calling it terror. I'm sorry but as much as I want the conflict to be resolved that doesn't excuse attacks on civilians and doesn't make it any less terrorizing. 

 

Today I'll watch different networks as well because I like to get my information from all different sources and make up my own mind, but that is basically the story of how Fox came into my life. It was via the Israeli angle, not the American one.
