I am not disagreeing with you at all and I believe I said that in my post earlier as well. Yes, there were slave that came here that were Muslim and other religions. That is a fact and I am not disputing that at all. What I am saying is that there is no evidence that Islam had a impact on our founding at all because it did not. Because the founders choose to not exclude any religion from protection does not mean that Islam had any part of that decision.

It's pretty damn clear if Islam had any say so there'd be no secularism. That much is apparent with the way Islam does things today in countries they rule, never mind back in the 18th century.

In that sense, no religion had, because of the establishment clause. We can't claim that another religion had an impact on our founding, except for the fact that many who came to our country did so fleeing religious persecution.

What I am trying to say is that we really don't know which religions did or did not have an impact, and Islam's contribution is likely to have been as significant as any other religion. I will say that what impact it had would have been excluded from history books, because it was most likely the religion of slaves.

No religion had an impact on our founding. That's funny

Though wikipedia is not always the most reliable source, you can read about some early Muslims in the US here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_in_the_United_States#Early_records

From this article, I've gleaned that there isn't much evidence that Islam shaped America's founding - sure there was the odd influential Muslim here or there but for the most part it seems that so few Muslims immigrated in the early days that there wasn't really a way for Islam to be super influential.

Like it or not, I think we are more shaped by our puritan roots than anything. The US still has a far smaller Muslim population than, say, Europe does.

As the government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian Religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen … it is declared … that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

I am sure there are alternate facts where all the signatories of the Declaration of Independence were seen kissing the Pope's ring.
