Because it is about personal responsibility, and not government intervention to make things "more equal". This country is full of opportunity for those that strive for it, just ask Mike Rowe.  There are plenty of jobs out there that pay very well if a person is willing to take the time to gain the necessary skills which often means starting from the bottom.  I worked many minimum wage jobs and busted my ### to improve.  I never expected the government to provide a handout, and I think I am a better person for it.  We can let the government implement wage controls to put a ceiling on specific positions, or put in profit caps to limit the earning power of small business people, but that will just perpetuate the myth of a free lunch.

so, you're saying we should all work 'dirt' jobs but eventually work our way into tv and get famous and a net worth of 45 mill?! sure, that's an opportunity we all have..talk about perpetuating a myth.

A lot of people start out working dirt jobs.  I was a custodian for a number of years, works Summers as a caddy, and found odd jobs while working my way through the University.  I never had the desire to go into television, but even that has a starting point.  I am sure Eddie Murphy, or any other big star didn't start off at the top, he like many others had to start out somewhere.

i've been working since i was 14 and old enough to get a work permit. i'm 38 now and i've had the same job for 15 years. personal responsibility/bootstrap theory is an awesome concept, but so is time travel.

The concept of increasing labor value is a foreign concept to the left who think they're:

 

- Entitled to a job because they exist 

- Entitled to a job because they possess a high school diploma 

- Entitled to a job because they have a degree (especially bull**** liberal arts degrees) 

- Entitled to a job because they're female 

- Entitled to a job because they're an immigrant 

- Entitled to dictate how businesses negotiate the labor value they want to pay (only half the equation) 

- Entitled to expensive houses in urban areas while working as a cashier at Walmart 

- Entitled to raises and increased labor value merely because they work X amount of hours or ambiguously "work hard" 

- Entitled to any other product or services (vehicle, internet, etc.) because of this childish entitlement theory 

 

But I am thankful for these children of adult age, without them increasing my own labor value would be a lot tougher.

 

Also if wealthy liberals like Soros really thought leftists were useful he'd be giving them jobs instead of bussing them around to uselessly protest Republican rallies, town halls, etc. like his little play things to toy with.
