I just received my NOA for my advanced parole and employment authorization in the mail.  We are planning to travel back to Canada in July.  My passport has two dates:  US visa that is attached to my Canadian passport says expires June 15, 2017 and the other paper that was stamped by Homeland security says March 28, 2017.  These dates conflict what it says on my letter saying that I can travel for one year until 2018.  I am concerned when we fly what the border patrol officer will say.  Is this a normal situation?

Thank you for your  input.

Your visa (K-1) is one-use and void as soon as you used it, so that expiration date is moot.

What paper do you have stamped by Homeland Security?

Hi Cindy,

Looking at your time line, it looks like you should have only applied for the AOS and not the ROC.  Did you apply for them both?  The process goes: enter on K1 Visa then get married and apply for AOS.  Once AOS is approved you receive your first green card.  It is only good for 2 years, so you apply for ROC towards the end of the 2 years.

We sent in the I 485 application for adjustment of status to remove the temporary status on my visa to permanent.  We also sent the employment authorization form  I 765 and travel document form I 131.  My actual card came in mail the next day after my NOA.  It has an expire date in 1 year.

So, do I apply for a new green card 90 days before this expires?  And do I use the form I 90

I think you're in the wrong forum. This is for "removal of conditions" on your green card, which it looks like you haven't actually gotten yet - you're still pending for the Adjustment of Status, right?

I'm going to try to get this post moved to the appropriate thread, ok?

To do my best to clarify:

Right now you have Advance Parole, which means you can travel before you get your green card.

You also have an EAD (Work Permit).

You can ignore any other dates on any visas. If you have not received your actual green card before your AP expires, you'll need another AP document. Ditto for the EAD.

Probably, though, you will get a green card soon. It will be valid for 2 years. Then, 90 days before the end of that 2 years, you apply for Removal of Conditions, using I751 (not I-90). Then, this will be the right forum for any questions.

Is your timeline updated?

Perfect!!  Yes, yes, this clears things up.

Thank you so much nightingalejules
