Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I've been lurking this forum for a couple months now and have gotten a ton of information. Thanks to everyone who have shared their stories. Even the mundane details are really helpful!

I met my fiance in Hong Kong while I was on a random, spur-of-the-moment vacation.  We were so lucky to meet each other, she usually works 6 days a week but had a lot of free time because her boss happened to be out of town. I've returned to HK a couple times since then to see her and we've been dating long distance for about a year now. I recently went with her to the Philippines and met her family and now we're ready to take the next step and apply for K-1.

We have a pretty straightforward case: no previous marriages, no kids, I make enough money, no arrests, etc... but I just learned about Police Clearance and I'm afraid that this will be a pain in the butt. We're going to need PCC from Hong Kong, Phils, and Qatar. Ugh... I'm heading to HK next week for her birthday and I figure we'll get a ton of passport-sized photos, get some certified fingerprints done, and visit the Phils and Qatar embassies. FUN!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to starting this journey and I'll make sure to post updates once I get going.

Hi there,

Great news to hear you're making the next step.

I also previously worked and lived in HK and that was where I met my partner, I've since returned to the UK where I'm filing the K-1 via London. I can understand and relate about obtaining PCC's in HK.

From what I understand and being in touch with them, we need to complete a few forms found online, supply certified ink fingerprints along with a copy of the NOA2, only then will they produce a PCC sent direct to the consulate you're applying. So you'll never see it or have it to hand.

All the best with the journey!

My Asawa and I live in Hong Kong and went thru the K-1 process here.. Her also requiring PCC from other countries.  I read this post to her and she said it is super easy to get done.   However as much as you may want to get a head start on this you are too early... This comes later in the process and at least the Philippines one must be sent direct to the consulate which you can't do until you get packet 3 much later in the process.  My Asawa said she would be more than happy to assist your future wife with this when the time comes.   I will send you a PM with my wife's email address to pass to your future wife.  Enjoy your trip to Hong Kong next weekend and Happy Birthday to your future wife.
