I submitted the AOS application about a month ago and as soon as I got home, I realized that I had forgotten the biometrics fee.

I received the application back today with the expected insufficient fee letter for the biometrics, but there were two other insufficient fee letters attached to the i-131 and the i-765.

As a K1 adjuster, doesn't the AOS fee of $1140 include these two applications as well?

I'm a bit confused.

Also, can someone verify that the application (without biometrics) is in fact $1140?

And, the biometrics fee is submitted in a second check, correct?

Thanks Everyone!

You suppose to combine the AOS Fee with the biometrics fee on one check.

It should be $1225.

Great, thanks!

what about the other two insufficient fee forms? They are supposed to be included in the fee when filing at the same time as the i-485

I got that for my rejected EAD application (I forgot to sign it, duh) so they also said that my fee was insufficient. I didn't include a form but my I-797C form when I shipped my EAD application back and it was accepted :) I think it just states that. You're correct that the fee is waived with AOS. Don't worry about it!

So the EAD I-797C form says at the top Eligibility Category: C09

that correct so why was it sent back then? It's signed and filled out correctly.

You don't have to combine the fees in one check. When I applied for AOS from a F-1 visa, my husband and I wrote three separate checks (I-485, I-485 biometrics, I-130) because for some reason, we thought this would be a more "careful" approach. Everything went swimmingly. You save paper by writing just one check though!

Married to US Citizen. I'm the beneficiary.

Adjustment of Status (AOS) from F-1

  • Priority date: 2016-09
  • Initial interview for I-485: 2017-06. Approved on the same day.

Removal of Conditions (ROC)

  • Eligible starting: 2019-03

Your I-131 and I-765 applications are free when filing with the I-485. Since your I-485 got rejected for not sending a check with the right amount, the other 2 are automatically rejected too. They are not going to start processing them for free without the I-485, you have to resend everything again.

Thank you gray_cat. That's the clearest explanation I've gotten. I've attached a note to each, just for clarification that they should be free upon the advice of some others.

Thank you all!
