FBI obtained FISA warrant to monitor former Trump adviser Carter Page

The FBI obtained a secret court order last summer to monitor the communications of an adviser to presidential candidate Donald Trump, part of an investigation into possible links between Russia and the campaign, law enforcement and other U.S. officials said. 

The FBI and the Justice Department obtained the warrant targeting Carter Page’s communications after convincing a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court judge that there was probable cause to believe Page was acting as an agent of a foreign power, in this case Russia, according to the officials. 

This is the clearest evidence so far that the FBI had reason to believe during the 2016 presidential campaign that a Trump campaign adviser was in touch with Russian agents. Such contacts are now at the center of an investigation into whether the campaign coordinated with the Russian government to swing the election in Trump’s favor.

Page has not been accused of any crimes, and it is unclear whether the Justice Department might later seek charges against him or others in connection with Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential election. The counterintelligence investigation into Russian efforts to influence U.S. elections began in July, officials have said. Most such investigations don’t result in criminal charges.

It would seem too, but of course no one cares about meddling by the former Administration.  What is interesting is that if you look at the actions of the last Administation and the actions so far of the current Administration, the former was seemingly more friendly to Russia than the latter.  From backing the claim that Assad got rid of all the chemical weapons (example Susan Rice) to doing everything they could to raise the price of oil which feeds right into the Russian economy, but as usual the last Administation gets a pass.

Indeed, the left don't seem too concerned about foreign money buying Hillary favors through her foundation and speeches. They don't seem concerned about election rigging within their own party primaries. Things that aren't even disputable thanks to Wikileaks documents, yet they believe these conspiracy theories about Trump and Russia.

that's what i've been hearing too. how dare the obama use the honorable justice dept and fbi in presenting proof for the "convincing" of a foreign intelligence surveillance judge, what a wicked wicked web we weave! obtaining a warrant through the proper channels i just haven't heard such insanity since, well, foreign money buying hillary through her foundations and super expensive speeches!

So if this was reversed and George W. was using the DOJ/NSA to spy on the Obama campaign and transition team you would be fine with it?  What you fail to address is what was the motive for President Obama and his DOJ to do this?  Seems political to me, but I am sure the Left apologists will dismiss this.

Manipulation of oil prices is a new twist. Where does this fantasy come from?

Page was an operative for the Russian government, who got 'caught out' many years ago in a previous FBI investigation of a Russian agent who was up until recently, serving hard jail time for his crimes. It's understandable why the investigation into his activities would have continued and still continues now. Perhaps Trump should have thought twice about entangling himself with Russian agents if he did not want to be associated with investigations. Page was described, by one Kremlin agent, as an idiot, but a very useful one.
